ha. Im terribly 'slow' when it comes to finding out things. Anyhow, found out yesterday morning that Yasko is for sale. http://www.fleischerheim.com/IndexOlderRetiredDogs.htm Just posted to see if anyone else knew. lol.

Hmm...Bill can't spell Yasko's kennel name on his own website!

$20,000? Is this for Yasko or for Uran Moorbeck?

Poor, expendible dogs! JMHO....

It was my understanding from a few years ago when Yasko was bought out of Germany that he would spend his retirement years with his new (then) owner, industrial magnate, Gardner Larned.  So sad that Yasko, after such an illustrious past and having sired so many great progeny, has come to this pass.  I really hope someone with a heart and who can give this dog a wonderful retirement home will come forward.  He truly deserves a special home and freedom in his last years, which will now be few.  I would love to give him a home, but 20K for a dog who may live so short a life is a very steep price to pay.  Perhaps he should be sent to a the best home he could be given and forget about the money?  I'm sure there are many who would provide a few wonderful years for him, take good care of the geriatric vet situations, and love him to pieces.  But 20K?

It saddens me more than I can say to see such a great dog advertised for sale in this way.

Who knows but what Yasko may get to be a dog again for the first time in years--instead of hanging out as a breeding machine at a vet clinic!

So many dogs, so few homes. Yasko is probably not the only deserving dog in need of some love before he dies. So sad.....

If only I had 20,000 dollars to piss away... I would love to give Yasko the home that he needs. He would not be kenneled up but free inside the house (I hope hes house trained). He would have casual trips to the park where he can run freely without a lead. He would see life the way it should have been, without smelling females in heat all day and all night long and with out having veterinarians jerking him dry every so often.

I could only dream with what I could do with Yasko..

A woman could dream, right?

That's so sad. I wonder if he's ever had a hug, or a kid to run with. I, too, would take him in a heartbeat if I could, and the world at large would never hear from him again, but he'd be a happy boy! jackie

I hope that the decision will be based on more than money.

I recall (not too many years ago) that, when a famous racehorse was sold to an Asian buyer, he celebrated by preparing a huge banquet where his guests dined on the horse. These people believed that, by eating the horse, they would be filled with his strength and his spirit!

That's disgusting. I am respectful of cultural differences, but when an animal spends it's life serving humans for acclaim and profit, it should not be served for dinner! but served with respect and gratitude for it's life. jo
