hi all,

as with the last post i started feeding innova food and rice & boiled chicken meat only. three times a day.

before i was feeding iams puppy food and her stool was tight.

now once after i changed for the last three days she is poooing really loose. all around my backyard :)

is it due to innova that i changed right away rather mixing or is it due to chicken.

any suggestions would be really great.

thanks

it's probably because you didn't slowly mix it, sudden change in food wiil do that...

A well known breeder once told me that giving a dog applesauce will slow or stop diherea. I've tried it with my puppies after de-worming, and it's always worked like a charm. It has to be REGULAR though, no cinnamon or whatever crazy flavors they've come up with this week. Good luck! Oh, pick up some Pedialite too, good for rehydrating your dog/pup after lose of liquid like diherea.

The Innova will give them loose stools untill the body adjusts. It is a much richer food than the pup has ever had. The loose stools  will go away in a few more days. It would have helped mixing it in slowly. I also would not feed the boiled chicken and rice. She really dosen't need it. This food doesn't need any supplementing.

Hi Kool,  I had a lady return her 13 week old pup, saying it had a sensitive stomach, she almost killed my pup.  In the short time she had this beautiful pup, she had switched it's diet so many times, boiled beef & rice, turkey, rice & squash, Nutro puppy food.  She then had the dog taking Metronidazole Tab 250Mg-----Drontal Plus Canine Tab 22.7mg.-----Prednisone/Prednisolone-----Mind you this is the vet. prescibing all this to apease the customer, the heck about the dog.   They tested the pup for Pancreatic insufficency, Gairdia, all parisites, every test was normal.  She brought puppy back & I refunded her full amount back.  I take my dogs back no matter what, so I think I surprised her.   When she brought puppy back, she was feeding puppy Hills RX Cans I/D, and told me she hadn't fed her pup since the day before yesterday, cause it was a long ride, I wanted to slap her in the face, but I politely, thanked her for bringing back the pup!    As soon as she left, I imediately fed the pup Bil-Jac, she was starving & her ribs were showing.  After feeding Bil-Jac for 2 days, I had to loosen her collar, also her stools were normal.

All this cause the pup had loose stools one day, and heaven forbid she had to clean-up after her!

These dogs are wash n' wear, don't get too technical, this lady tried so hard to find something wrong that she neglected to get puppy her 2nd set of booster shots.

I am also feeding some of my dogs Iams all breed dog food, and it's working out pretty good!!

The puppy went to her new home about 4 days after I got her back, she's doing GREAT!!!!!!
Her new name is Stella (it was Baley)

mirasmom, thanks for sharing. also everyone.

i never feed whatever i think besides i ask this forum. even my vet told me to feed her science diet and one of the member pointed out not to feed her that.

several other members recommended innova or solid gold. so i started innova.

inorder to increase her weight i started feeding one time boiled meat only chicken with rice. she was only 13lbs when she was 111/2weeks old. when i picked up from the beeder around 11 weeks i feel it looked fine to me. but the after i got her i feel she was thin and took her to vet and have everything examined. and vet also told me she is below weight.

i've vet checked her thoroughly and he even tested her stool which all seems good.

surprisingly, last nite before she slept i took her out and she played around for like 5 mins. and i took her back and after an hour i saw her sleeping. but i didn't feel her heart rate as normal . it was like faster than normal & slows down and again faster. but the dog was sleeping like crazy. is it normal? last time vet checked her heart rate also. but this morning she seems very active.

i was really scared. i also don't know if its normal sometimes would be glad to hear.

thanks

Guys,I sent  kool 3 or 4 different posts last week as well as many others did too trying to help this person or rather the poor dog and its like this person is looking for a SPECIFIC answer which no one is giving.I suggested he leave the dog on Eukanuba and NOT give anything else until this poor pup gets over this. Its quite obvious that this person is refusing to take proper suggestions from anyone.Im sorry guys i'm not usually this short but in this case ,i wonder about this post altogether now.

hi Domenic,

thanks for your comments. i'm not here to ask questions and refuse what you all suggest me.

i did change to innova food and some one suggest me to feed chicken and rice which i did.

its just that my dog is having loose stool and i'm worried about it and asking bunch of questions as this is my first time raising gsd puppy.

i hope everyone understands my situation.

last time one member even asked me to feed innova without mixing iams so which i did and i got mixed answers that's where i'm confused.

thanks Domenic.

thank you all.

Hi everyone, I always say, If it's not broken than don't fix it-------I have tried many different dog foods over the years & if I have the time, I do prefer to make a natural mixture,as unprocessed as possible.   If I feed them any brand, it's always kibble never some mystery meat in a can.  Dogs do love people canned Salmon & it's priced reasonable at the supermarket.   If you find a dog food that makes their coat shine & they look great, stick to it, to each his own.

I remember years back asking my boss what was he feeding his 17 year old golden retriever, believe it or not, Purina dog chow!!Go figure!!!

BACK TO THE WATCHING THE SOX!!!!!!(GOOD GAME!!!!)

Hi kool, Finding the right food for any dog is hard, Espically with all the different comerical brands out there. When choosing a good food you want one that has been around for at least 10 yrs so you know that it won't hurt your dog. The puppy is the best person to ask about how good a food is. You can look at their weight, skin and fecal output. You want a food that is highly digestable, which you can tell by how much stool your puppy produces. Most likely the diarhea is caused from switching foods so quickly. Always take at least 3 days to transfer to a different brand of dog food. In regard to your puppy's heart rate, it is noraml for a heart beat to go slow then fast. it is related to the puppy's breathing. Next time feel his heart rate then watch the puppy's breathing. If you have any more questions jsut Jennifer
