Why is it that some breeders don't want to provide these papers?  Do they cost alot of money?  The dog is 9 moths old with no papers.

There are several reasons a dog may be sold with no papers.  If the dog is from Germany and one or both of the parents has no SchH or HGH titles, SV will not register the litter.  Some breedings are done there with untitled parents to produce working dogs only with no registration papers.  And sometimes brokers buy working dog prospects from other countries with no papers.  Then there are puppies sold through brokers who take the money from a buyer but never pay the breeder for the puppy, so the breeder will not provide the papers until they get paid.  A puppy like this can change hands several times without papers, and sometimes it is difficult to establish contact with the breeder who has the papers.

Did you check to see that you weren't getting them?

If it was imported direct from breeder, chances are the breeder didn't let the puppy go unless money was in hand. If parents are titled the litter can be registered in Germany.

It does take time. I've even bought adults were paper work takes time from the SV. Then the breeder gets it back and mails it to the original owner and than the owner you bought it from will mail it to you etc. Unless they told you that you won't get papers I'd ask if you will.

When I import pups i handle all the registering for AKC before I send the pink papers to the new owners because many don't have the finest idea with what is required and HOW to do it. This way I know there is no errors and I can mail pink papers and the akc cert. to the buyers.

Thank you for the replies.  He is an Andjruscha van Noort pup, born and bred in Germany.  My contact is in the States, and tells me that he will check on them.  That's all I get.  Very sad!
