Anyone considered that before that command it should also be taught the command "stay" so that it is given before the "down"?

don't understand that thinking.. and furthermore you can't use stay in Schutzhund.. sit is sit, down is down.. etc

Why should you have to give your dog two different commands to obey?  If I tell my dog to down, then the dog should remain in a down until I tell him otherwise.  I shouldn't have to tell him to stay also.
