This evening I was running thru some siblings of my female - Felice vom Amulree aka Molly. I ran across a 1/2 sister that received an SG1 rating. What I was wondering is - Molly is considered a long coat and this dogs coat looks similar to Molly's to me. I was hoping that some of the experts on this board could critique for me the difference? Just trying to learn.

No expert but I think the other dog has more hair around her ears than Molly.

Kathy:
I also took some pictures of your girl on Thursdays. I downloaded, but now have to figure out the best way to get them to you. Too large to send via email. I will try to burn you a cd.

They are boths coats! I suspect that the SG1 rating came from a non-SV judge judging for a longcoat club

yes, the rating came from a long coat club, not SV.

I have been trying for nearly 2 years to find out a rational definition. From what I have read a coat:
A. Does not carry an undercoat.
B. Has long soft hair that usually parts in the middle.
C. Has tufts of hair on it's feet and between it's toes.
I can understand these traits would be considered faults. They would detract from a dog's weatherproofing. From what I have seen all else is completely opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions.
