1.) Debbie Zappia-Escobar v. Adelrik

2,) Gary Hanrahan- Bastin v. Kokeltal

3.) Gary Hanrahan-Asko v. Siegelgrund

4.) Cathy Jobe-Fratz v. Tuechehwald

5.) Wallace Payne-Merlin v. Conneforde

Who do you think is the best of these five to represent the U.S. Which of these five do you think had the most success? Which of these dog do you think would have done better in the hands of one of the other five handlers. Please keep it to these five teams.

I think I would give the slight edge to Wallace and Pedro over Debbie and Escobar.  Very slight edge.  Both have done very well in the US Events and have done really well in the WUSV.  Cathy always seems to be a bridesmaid and never a bride.  Can't say anything bad about her, she is always in the running.  As to Gary and Bastin, I am going to be one of those people that take some credit away from Gary.  I can't put this team in the top because Bastin won the BSP before Gary ever had him.

I am one of those people that give more credit to the person that does the most with the dog.  Has put the majority of the training into the dog.

.

1. Wallace Payne-Merlin v. Conneforde

Nice work, consistent in all events.

2.  Gary Hanrahan- Bastin v. Kokeltal

Did better with Gary in terms of work than before.  Just watch the DVDs.  Obvious.

3. Debbie Zappia-Escobar v. Adelrik
Nice dog.  Trained with others and showed improvement from one year to the next when she did.

4. Cathy Jobe-Fratz v. Tuechehwald

Same as Debbie.  Was able to work with good trainers.

Don,

I think between Debbie and Wallace I would also give Wallace the edge. But, I think Gary and Asko based on the things they accomplished after Gary got the dog would have to beat them out. I know he didn't train him from start to finish but, all the greatness the dog reached was after Gary got him. My list would look like this

1.) Gary & Asko

2.) Wallace & Merlin

3.) Debbie & Escobar

4.) Cathy & Fratz

5.) Gary & Bastin

But, your opinion is a "Damn Good One" I like the way you always stay on the subject. no matter if I aggree with your opinion or not, you always stay on the subject.

I couldn't remember when Gary got Asko and the training he came with, that is why I didn't comment on that team.    What place/scores did Asko and Gary achieve at the WUSV?  I honestly don't remember.

by Realman on 27 August 2007 - 19:08

Gary & Asko came in 2nd in 1991 with a score of  97-97-97=289 that year he was tied for 1st. but the belgium beat him out in obedience. The next year he came in 3rd. with a score of 99-95-96=290 In 1990 he came in 8th with a score of 95-95-98=288 and they won every major USA event in this country. Not to shabby

That's not too bad. Very consistant scores too.  Funny how one year a 289 will get you 2nd, then 290 will get you 3rd, then 288 will get you 8th.

i WOULDNT GIVE GARY CREDIT FOR ANYTHING....HE DID A BAD SHOWING WITH BASKIN , AND BASKIN ALREADY WAS TRAINED....

ITS NO SECRET I WILL NOT CREDIT HIM WITH ANYTHING...HE CAN WORK A DOG,, BUT THAT IS ALL. I DONT KNOW ABOUT ASKO, HAVENT FOLLOWED HIM

I THINK WALLACE  IS ON TOP AND YES DEBRA IS ONE GREAT LADY..

CATHY AND FRATZ WERE ON THE TEAM AND SHE DID GREAT    SHE WOULD BE THIRD....

GARY AND ASKO  MAYBE   NEXT   IF I HAVE TOO

G AND B SOMEWHERE ELSE...

AND IT IS NOTHING PERSONAL  , ITS ALL ABOUT THE DOG........AND INTEGRITY.....MUST HAVE THAT IF YOU WANT MY VOTE.....

Ok Don   I get stars and bullets when G is mentioned with any dog....BASTIN     yes   I like Baskin and Robbins....good flavours  actually we have Brahms here now and I like their  Old Fashioned Vanilla .....and a new one at Goldenbrook is     Amaretta w nuts and cherries.....mmmmgood.....

Im sitting here looking at his pedigree , his picture , his hips and everything else and with Pirol also...I saw him catch Pirol, when I went to buy my hip dysplastic pup, and wow , did that boy hit the sleeve....It echoed all over the hills of Arkansas......Pirol was a little scary,,,,,,had to keep an eye on him....

Nothing else to offer to that conversation   case closed.....

I like Randy Rhodes and think he is much more the sports man in our sport ......man of intergrity and such a gentleman who feels for all and helps his teammates...and is he every good......is it 5 different dogs.....he has done...or five different nationals  ?   I need to go get a bowl of ice cream

Id post the Clinton joke , but might get Oli mad.
