What is the difference between the B&T and the Bi-Color? Are the markings different etc?

Sometimes you hear someone refer to a TRUE bi-color as a dog with no tan on the face... only tan on the lower legs.

I think a bi-color has very little tan or red markings. Their face is predominately black, small amount of tan/red on legs and no grey hairs on their back. Bl/Tn has alot more color forming a blanket or saddle with markings on their face, top of head etc. Thats how I see it anyway.

a true bi-color is has brown/red/tan on the lower legs, under the tail and may have 'eyebrow spots', while the rest of the body is black. not so many bi-colors seen these days.... it is not a so-called blanket-back, nor a black sable. this is a dog with markings similar to a rottweiler, but usually there is a smaller amount of brown/red/tan on the legs than a rottie shows. some bi-colors have only brown frosting on the feet and under the tail; indeed, some dogs called black (which have minimal frosting) are actually bi-colors.

I agree with trailrider and kellyj. It's also more common for bi-colors to have tar-heels & penciling on the toes.
Here's an example of a bi-color:

And here's one of a black & tan, some dog's in his pedigree are also blk & tan.

Hope that helps a little.
