Hi all, someone recently posted on a thread to give your dog carrots as a treat, something good for them to chew if they eat it, i don't know who wrote it but i just wanted to say thanks for the suggestion, i just gave boss one and he did exactly what was said, he held it in his paws and it was gone in no...pretty cool since carrots are cheap and you know they are eating something pure & healthy...

I'll have to thry the large carrots they can chew like a bone. I have thrown ina few baby carrots and they don't touch em. I bet a frozen carrot on a hot day woud be a good treat.

m_zaki40- im pretty new to this myself, im also still learning...but from what i've read on here..most bones are good as long as they are raw...but never turkey bones, raw or not, i learned that from my own bad experience, when i was a kid i had a beautiful catahoula cur, after thanksgiving my brother threw out the turkey bones , and of course my dog ate them...the next day he wouldn't come out from under the house, he just sat there and he was foaming at the mouth (we were kids we thought he had gotten rabies, but i now believe it was from a bone stuck in his throat)..he was way in they back where we couldn't reach him, by the next morning he had already passed, as they say on here, crossed the bridge i think? i cried for days..man i miss that dog...anywho..also never feed cooked chicken bones-they splinter, i've also had to pry those out of dogs mouth before from them getting stuck in the roof of the mouth, jammed between the two rows of teeth...
i hope this helps, maybe some others can add some info or correct me if im wrong on any of mine.....PLEASE correct me if i am guys..i'd hate to be giving bad info...lol...esp if im doing something wrong myself....

We use carrots as training treats too. Cut up into bite size pieces they work great. And I can have one as we go too.

Recently i mentioned to the vet that I give lucy carrots, she said carrots are good for dogs, but in moderation, they contain alot of sugar and could pose a problem with weight. So now i only give them to her about twice a week, but she does enjoy them.
