Woman Accused Of Drowning Hundreds Of Animals

Humane Society agents on Wednesday were searching for a woman wanted for animal cruelty.    

Prosecutors said Maureen McLaughlin admitted killing 650 puppies, dogs, and cats by drowning them in a trash can.

McLaughlin recently told authorities she would fill a trash can with water, put the animals in a crate, and place the crate in the water.

"She would keep fur from each animal that she killed and write the name and date and descriptions of the animals," said assistant city prosecutor Bill Hedrick.

Many of the animals MacLaughlin drowned since July 2002 were received through people thinking that she was a rescue.

"No one would expect this going on and basically she's just a mass killer of animals," Hedrick said.

Authorities were working to determine why McLaughlin killed the animals when they say she knew that what she did was wrong.

McLaughlin was charged with one count of animal cruelty because Humane Society agents recovered only one carcass.

Prosecutor Hedrick said he was concerned that she could be volunteering with local veterinarians or other rescues.

Whether she's convicted of killing three animals or 650, the maximum sentence she can receive is 1 1/2 years in jail, he said. And once she's released, no law prevents her from taking in cats and dogs

Abuse of animals is disgusting no matter the race or sex of the perp. "People" who exercise cruelty on the weak and/or defensless are subhuman brutes. I say castrate all the mosters so they can't make more of themselves then boil them in oil.

Okay. She needs therapy, bad.

And they do need to make sure she

never takes in any animals ever again.

That's just sick. Especially because most of those animals were

probably pets. If she ever did that to one

of my pets I had given her, thinking she was a rescue, she wouldn't

be able to hurt another animal once I got through with her.

PETA did the same thing, taking pets and killing them.

Wher is the actual link to this story? I'd liek to know its real and not someones idea of a sick joke, before I go off!

I think somebody needs to put her in a crate, and drop it in water.

Maybe the NAACP will come to her defense too.  After all, white is just as much of a color as black is. (said tongue in cheek folks)
