My boy who i have posted a pic of before has always had a dicky tummy, I have tried different foods over the whole time i have had him. Ie 2 years.

If i give him anything with meat in or flavoured with meat or bones he has major diarrhoea.

At the moment he is on Burns fish and brown rice plus i add a small tin of Tuna in sunflower oil, he has been on this about 4 months,His motions seem alot better but still loose and only 2-3 times a day.

I was wandering what other people feed there dogs and that would be highly recommended or if anyone else has this prob with there dogs.

so much depends on where you are located as to what's available.  For our couple dogs with lose stools we use Dick Van Patten's brand Duck and Potatoe.  The dogs do well and no more lose stools.

I've always fed pure pumkin in a can about 2 tbsp will cure the loose stools.

Asko

Do you feed this daily in his food?

waya,

For a couple of ours it is anything with any type of grain or rice, even teats with grain flour can give them lose stools.  Maybe look for a food using potatoe instead of grain or rice (any flour or millet).  Good luck.

Hubby's male, now 5, had such a bad tummy 1 1/2 years ago that he was down to 45 pounds. The vet was at a loss.Last resort Hill's Prescription Diet. That made his runs even worse. we were talking to put him down.

Out of desperation and having nothing to loose I put everyone on strictly RAW cold turkey and guess what:

He weighs in at 80 pounds, his coat is shiny, he acts and feels like a new dog .

He had the runs once a couple of months ago because hubby gave him a fatty knuckle bone. After some canned pumkin he was as good as new.

Moral of the story Waya - don't give up. Maybe you want to try RAW.

The most common medicinal use of pumpkin pulp is not obvious from the nutrient content, that is in treating diarrhea. Pumpkin can be a safe and effective treatment, especially in dogs with sensitive stomachs. For small dogs, try 1-2 teaspoons of canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) twice a day. For large dogs increase the dosage to 1-2 tablespoons twice a day. Adding a little mashed banana to the pumpkin may prove useful in treating some cases. You will have to experiment a little to find out exactly how much works best for your dog.

More good news for the digestive system, a decoction (boiled down concentrate) of the pulp has been used traditionally to relieve intestinal inflammation. Additionally, pumpkin has a high concentration of the amino acid glutamic acid, a compound known to accelerate the healing of gastric ulcers and other disorders of the gastro-intestinal lining. In Surinam's traditional medicine, a decoction of the leaves is also used to treat stomach inflammation.

waya All  the above info is good. Pumpkin is great for stopping diarhea. Plain yogurt is also good for digestion. A couple other things are probiotics and digestive enzymes added to commercial dog food, especially with grains, to get the most out of the food. It greatly helps with digesting it. I feed RAW mostly but even ad some to that. I have been feeding a food called Orijen. I don't give alot but my dogs really like it. Its grain Free and kinda spendy but if you only have the one dog to feed it to it would be worth looking into. Also if you feel he simply has to eat fish only they have come up with a new product line of 6 fish and Sea Veggies. Here is the link to the distributor I buy from. If you surf the page you can also check out their different formulars.

I was also wondering if you have had him checked by your vet for any Pancreatic disorders?
