Well I thought I would post my initial experience with my male(18 months) who was neutered over  six weeks  ago. He was always the instigator in fights with my other more recent male (20 months). Always starting fights very quickly. Well I can happily say that so far there has been quite a shift in attitude with him! You can detect a change in his meetings with my other male. He doesnt put his hackles up much at all and tail is down as well. So far no fights. I suspect the testoterone did have something to do with his aggresiveness. Of course I am still being cautious and checking them out but its good to see some change already. I will keep you all posted.

I suppose the reason that I am posting is that when I asked opinions on this matter as to whether or not neutering would help with in house fighting, the overwhelming majority said it wouldnt do a thing. I did it anyway as this was my last hope. So I suppose it is good feedback(based on my experience so far of course!) against the tide of opinion, for anyone considering it.

My very first GSD was an American bred long coat male. He was very dog aggressive from about one year on. The neighbor had little Pekinese dogs that they let wander, if they came around he would sling them. He would go after much larger dogs as well. I bought a female so I had him neutored. He then became afraid of the Peke's!! Wanted nothing to do with them. Funny huh? I have spayed females that it never seemed to help them. They were still alway on the fight.

i'm glad that it's helping so far.  it doesn't always if the dog truly have it out for one another.
