Oops this went with the other thread, but I hit enter too soon......

Question # 2 for Breeders......

Let's say you deem a puppy YOU BRED / PLACED "Pet Quality" (and are not giving up full breeding rights, etc) and the family that has it says "Oh no, it is the most beautiful thing we have ever seen, and so on" and THEY want to have full breeding righs on this dog. What do you do? Do you allow them to sway your opinion, or do you stick to your guns and stand your ground?

Stick to my guns.  If they go get a working title on it, and it is otherwise breed worthy, then I can lift the restricted registration.

Stick to your guns.  It's the breeders reputation on the line if a dog with their kennel names produces less then desirable puppies.  The papers would be marked limited before they ever got them.

I don't sell pet puppies on full registrations, period.  If they decide they want to breed after the fact, too bad.  They would need to get the appropriate working title, adult hip rating etc on the dog before I would consider changing the registration to full allowing breeding.  This is all information that I give up front to everyone interested in my pups - if they are considering breeding their pup without working titles, they need to find another breeder.

Stick to your guns. Plus you could try explaining what is required to breed a dog of quality such as all the work and money that goes into titling, KKL etc. etc. If they can turn a pet quality pup into one approved for breeding then let them, but they have to prove to you that it's done. More than one dog has been sold as a pet and come back to be a star. If they want to go through all the trouble it takes to get there ,they should be congratulated. My guess is they'll take the 1/2 refund if you offer it.
