On Saturday I decided to take Drake for a walk in the early afternoon. I went to the local County Park where there is a pond and paths that meander through the trees. Drake is a big boy for his age (7 months and 85 lbs.) and sometimes people are hesitant to even walk past him. Well, I got out of the car and immediately a young couple (with a dog) came over and asked if they could pet him, his sister has a GSD and they just loved him. He tried to play with their dog and it was really cute. On down the path we go and another young couple on bikes stopped and asked if THEY could pet him, he was just loving all the attention! They said they had a Lab pup at home but after seeing Drake wished they had chosen a GSD, what a nice dog! Even further along an elderly German lady was getting out of her car with two poodles, one started barking at Drake, pulled the leash out of her hand and came rushing at us, barking! Drake looked at this little (not so bright) guy and got down on his front paws to play, at which time I grabbed the leash. The lady apologized, thanked me and commented how well behaved and nice Drake was (the dog also hurt her shoulder pulling the leash and of course she had to tell me about past injuries, aches and pains). Wrapping up our walk past the pond there was an elderly gentleman with his even more elderly mother sitting on a bench at the pond. As I walked past he asked if his mother could see Drake, she just loves dogs. This is the best part...he's usually like a bull in a china shop but he walked up to her so gently and just laid his head in her lap! She got the biggest smile on her face as she patted his head. He looked up at her with those big eyes, just like he knew he had to be easy with her, he made her day, it was the cutest thing I've ever seen!! Anyway, just a good experience all the way around and I wanted to share.

That's too cute :) I can brag a little about my dogs being sweet last night.....although in the midst of being sweet they chased a cat!
Anyways, there are wild cats that my neighbours feed, so they are always around, and EVERY night they come over into my yard and attack my cat. So last night I heard that awful cat fight noise, so I opened the door to try and shoo away the cats, but my two dogs beat me out the door and chased BOTH cats attacking my cat(they didn't chase my cat). When they were back inside they licked my cat, and were nuzzleing him, checking him out and making sure he was OK. It was very cute.
