I think it's mean but cute at the same time :)

awww, not mean! Not any different than chasing one of those laser pointers! I know of a lab that goes bonkers for a lazer pointer!

I always wonder what that type of play does for a high drive dog when there is no "prize" at the end.

Very cute. My male loves the laser pointer. But, yes we do have to practice will power, because he does get a little carried away about it.
ie: barking at my husband, then looking at where we keep the laser pointer. So, obviously he has him trained better than me, since he doesn't do that to me unless I ask him. :)

I just think it would be like if a friend and I played catch with Dante out and never let him have the ball, he'd go nutzo.
I have a friend that plays with a laser pointer with her cat and now the cat goes bonkers when she gets her keys out because it sounds like the pointer is coming out.

I got the laser pointer for the cat too! And he thinks that it's a really stupid idea, if he could have flipped me the bird he would have. I swear he said, "You have got to kidding me?"

Rezkat5-- my dog does the same thing, my son bought a toy gun that makes noise when he shoots it and it has a laser light, every time boss (my GSD) and daisy (my rat terrier) hears that sound they go nuts, then when my son plays with it after a few mins the sound drives me nut so i waill take it and put it up where he can't reach it but then the dang dogs will stand there barking at it.....once i recorded them playing with it and now everytime i replay that video they bark at the computer, looking very confused..lol
P.S. ---Right now its put away for good , i guess unless my hubby or I do it, because last time my son was playing with boss he slid into the wall and hurt his hip, it was limp, just hanging there for a few mins and he wouldnt walk on it, really scared me, so i agree they need to be used with caution.
what would prob be cool would be if we could buy a ball that had a little red light on it.
