Wildseigerland is show line....how can you tell? the pictures help, all black and reds, plus V ratings and VA ratings consistently in the line are usually a strong give away.

I don't know if you've ever bred before but in my opinion, if you cannot tell the difference between show and working lines, you shouldn't even be breeding GSD's yet. Take some time to learn the breed. If you are just used to the working lines, and have never seen showlines before or vice versa, then this will seem rude, so sorry, just my oppinion.

Thanks for the help ,and that is how you learn, as no forum seams clear as i thought that is what forms are for , and yes the red and black is a good  description , so i guess i need to still look for a sight that has do with show , the stud  is 6 and they were afraid his line would end , i have a beautiful tan and blk female who has german lines but no titles so i thought i would see if we could get a male who could get titled, and try to get a nice line going.  I guess ill have to wait and see as they will make wonderful pets if not show quality .

The Germans breed show and working frequently.    The biggest problem in the U.S. is perception...supposedly pure working line addicts only want 100% working and would not take a dog with--God forbid--show sh** somewhere in their ancestry.  And, on the other hand, those devoted totally to show dogs don't want any of that ugly coyote stuff in their pedigree.

Actually, a knowledge of bloodlines and careful breeding can produce some outstanding puppies.  No, the expert dog people will not want them, but the general public will love their temperament, moderation in structure and intelligent drive.  Just do your homework.  Make sure you have a good idea of what each bloodline will bring to the breeding, and good luck.

i was looking to add more working drive to my all ready high drive bitch , i just dont think that you have to go over board , and it is dishearting to hear she is just a show dog , as she nor her blood line has been proven , i was miss informed about the male and what the tiltles met ,hers are from germany but not tilted ,i was hoping to produce a male who could do both , looks are not of importants but a balanced dog i thought is what we wanted to breed , and as i read this forum it is going to be hard to compeat  in other countries if we stick to show or working , it seams to me a mix would work or maybe im not getting it or is this a stubborn thing  with breeders, just asking questions ,from someone who wants to know( at the risk of getting the answer) all advise is wanted as i sort thru the advise and do the best for my line.  thank long-horn for the advise i will be back for more  ha !

well if you want to do schutzhund, then do schutzhund! If your dog is not suitable for shuzthund, then buy a working line dog. If you want to show, then stick to show. As for ugly coyote looks in your pedigree, well I personally fell that working line dogs are much better looking than showline dogs. And I know multiple "ugly working dogs" that have been V rated in dog shows. As for mixing the lines, do what  you want, but I think you will get better results in sticking to one line. Whichever line that it is you choose.

Hi Princess:  You may want to seek out advise from those that are breeding & competing for the Universal Seiger titles.
