Since the embedded was deleted here is the link. This is not graphic, study done with a sensor inside a bite sleeve.

For those of us with Dial up, could you please explain the results, as my computer is too darn slow to load a good video. I really would like to check it out for myself, but I don't have an hour to wait for my stupid, slow computer to load it.

Thanks in advance!

Ok It is in a controlled environment. Each dog gets two bite on the sleeve. Pit- 130 psi 235 psi GSD- 130 psi 238 psi Rottie- 265 psi 328 psi I hope this helps, if you can wait it out to watch the video it is worth it.

wow I didn't think a rottie would beat a pit..

Ok I went and watched the video....it was kinda funny

The guy was scared of the GSD-he was doing a good bark and hold and the guy was scared...the rott wouldn't let go....lol

That was fun. Thanks for showing us.

Doesn't some of that have to do with the individual dog? I think it would be fun to take more representatives from each breed and then compare.

The size difference between a Rott and Pit is tremendous. Pits are know of locking on not necessarily how hard they bite.

by Angela Kovacs on 10 August 2007 - 20:08

Once again there is no such thing as lockjaw or any type of locking anything with Pits. Why do some many people believe this????

by Do right and fear no one on 10 August 2007 - 21:08

I also did not view the video because of dial up service.  I am a little surprised about the difference between the Pit and the Rott.  I would have thought the Rott and Pit would be only slightly more powerful than the GSD, but that result stated here is really a big difference between the Rott and the other two.  Of course, one or two tests are not diffinitive.  Why do they not also test some other breeds, like the Great Dane or Bull Mastiff?

Angela:  You are correct, however, the reason people believe it is because of all of those videos of Pit Bulls hanging on to tires or ropes tied to trees, and just swinging around, and also because of the dog fighting videos were a Pit is holding onto another Pit for a very long time, without letting go and re-biting like most dogs will do.  The way leopards and such grab their preys throat and just hang on until it dies.  It is a myth based upon what people have viewed and construed.  djc is not wrong to say that they "lock on".  It was not stated that Pits lockjaw, but you are correct.  Nothing actually "locks", but rather just intentionally "holds".
