we train mainly in schutzhund, but we have done some akc stuff . our friends have bulldogs and we have done some of the irondog events also. its fun to try new things and find out just what your dog can really do. we dont have any psa or ring clubs in our area, but i would like to find out more about them. as versitile as the gsd is, we find it fun to try out all the things we can.
so i was wondering what everyone else does with their dogs.

How cute...My friend has the thread about Schutz and Akc agility either or both...the owner of the gsd wanted peoples input as to what they do with theirs Hers is out of a high prey , high ball drive and a very spirited dam and sire. and she is a runner,,,she cant be unbusy....so I am eager to hear all that is done with other 1year olds and up
Im not quite sure what is available in the Galveston , Texas City area???????

I do my own form of agility. I first started out with a friend many years ago in the back yard (BYA Back yard agility he he) and we did not have money for all the stuff. We ended up making ours and let me tell you there were no specks on anything and it was wobby and ..... but our dogs did all of it. We had so much fun . What what I realized was that my dog was actaully better and more balance in life then my other dogs I did not do agility with.
It has become apart of my training now and I still do the BYA and there is still no specks or fancy equipement But we are still having fun.
I did comment on that thread. She should do both her dog it will be better for it.
Look under AKC agility events or under border collies events they should have some. Or make your own.
Good luck

Thanks , yes, her problem being the back yard in galveston is small....they own 5 acres on the mainland , which someday, if I cant get them up here to East Texas , they are going to build...she runs her every weekend at the property and she also goes to the beach which is only about 5 blocks from the house....
she is in a schutz club in Alvin,,and she knows of several agility meets, as one of her friends has other breed and they are pushing her to join in....Myah is on a treadmill, dont know if you read , after you posted....and is she a mass of muscle....I have several pics have to check and see if it shows her body....she is a go go girl ,,,has to be going all the time,,,and I havae one here also , Crissy , the Tiekerhook line girl...
She talks while she works....also

I have done obedience and agility in the past with my first GSD, Tonka...I got his CGC, CD, TC, and SchH1....I am now doing Schutzhund with my 2 of my 3 GSD's, Xena and Aiko. I also have a DDR female that I would like to SchH title. She is slow matureing so right now I am just letting her mature a little. I am planning on putting the SchH3 on both Aiko and Xena. I would like to try out for the SchH3 Nationals in 2009 with Xena. Xena's sire is on the World Team this year, as well as his sire.....so hopefully it will run in the family so to speak! Most of all I am doing this to have FUN!!!...
Here are the picture pedigrees of Aiko, Xena and Brix ...

Nice lines! I was looking at maybe a puppy next year from them? We will see how things go.
I would say join IF that what she wants to do.
Personally I love getting out with the dogs it does not matter what we are doing.

My dogs do a little of everything, and I have one that does nothing, zip, nada, except function as a speed bump and ball catcher.
Gipsi is SchH, therapy, working on herding
Gesha SchH, therapy, herding, teacher of young pups
Flint, SchH, care giver to hatchling guinea hens,
Diva, SchH, babysits her grandson (thank god! he's a handful) has done therapy, basically retired
Halo, retriever of lost gappay balls, resident speed bump, evening door checker over and over and over, Therapy
Farquar, Therapy dog, SAR K9, Agility, Herding, Elementary Canine Education demo dog,
Ricky, too wild for therapy, herds anything round, wants to be a sch but can't focus long enough to learn
Artie, Just started therapy, sch in the making, beginning herding in Sept, possible agility (probably would prefer flyball)
