Dawn G. Bonome

by Dawn G. Bonome on 08 August 2007 - 11:08

These 3 dogs had/have great work ethics for Showdogs. Gucci is alive and well and living the life of a king!  What male today,  has the Work ethic such as these 3 males? AND are to the Standard?

Regards!

Dawn,

I think the opinions are out and these dogs are recognized. You can add Centro to the list. When speaking of these very successful dogs and the lines they are from, you may want to consider VA Ronaldo Zellergrund. He's a Quartz grandson and seems to display some of the genetic traits associated with those dogs. I'm doing a series of linebreedings on Amigo now that based on combinations with weaker lines, I suspect will produce some exceptional abilities. I have a litter from Mara Hamburger Land and the sister to the German VA10 female is here for breeding now that's from Centro.

But don't take it from me. I'm biased, he's mine. As with the work ethic of any dog, it's best to ask those that have worked the dog and it's offspring. It's also a good idea to ask those that have offspring how their dogs are doing. The majority of the breeders that have and are using Ronaldo are focusing on the working abilities in their breeding programs.

Here's a quick rundown of some of his offspring:

April is with Lora Heldrith (co owner and trainer of Ikon Olympus) For those that know Lora, she really has a way around dogs. I'm very impressed with the two as a team and I'm sure she or some members of her club can offer an opinion of April's working abilities, temperament. Lora also has an AMAZING PUPPY. I think that's what I'll call her from now on. She has a Ronaldo pup from Quendi Olympus that can sit, stay, and down, on command. I have a video coming of it. If you were at the Bernhard Flinks seminar in MD a few weekends ago, you may have seen her. I'm sure Bernhard remembers her. This litter looked so good, I had to get one.

Flores is in Germany near Hannover with Reinhard for titling. So far the reports from him are very positive.

Xcell is well on her way to her title. She's training with a group in Franklin, OH. There should be some that train there that can comment on her work.

Gringo was with Steve and Cindy in KY a few years ago. He's working with Dave Blank from time to time in Joliet. We worked him this weekend in Canada. He works excellent.

Somewhere on the internet you'll find Dawnmarie posting something about her Yani litter. She has been working Debbie from a pup and has her with some real working people. I'm sure she and others in her club can comment on Debbie's abilities. Actually I have a video of her work if anyone is interested.

I have Cindy and she's about to be sent for titling. I've worked her in Ohio and VA since she was a pup.

As far as Ronaldo goes; Fred Lanting wrote some nice comments about his performance in his 2005 German Sieger Show Impression. I've always respected Fred's opinions and am honored he commented on his performance. Ronaldo has ben around the clubs across the country and worked by many helpers. He's best known around Franklin, Ky, Harvard, IL, Northern, VA, and he's spent some time in the Harrisburgh, PA  area. Just ask around. His reputation is out there.

I owe a lot of Ronaldo's success to Steve House. Steve like him from the first time he spit in his face in Union, IL. For those that know Steve, he's somewhat opinionated and tends to train dogs to the limits of their abilities. Steve has done an excellent job with Ronaldo and many of his offspring. Thanks buddy!

For those that know me, I'm not much of a trainer/handler. Two left feet and no animation. White guy that can't dance syndrome. I still get yelled at in each training session. If anyone wants to campagin a dog for Universal Sieger, let me know, maybe we can work something out!

I have a Quartz daughter and two grandsons. I am so hoping that the youngest of the males has what it takes. I am hoping in a year or two to have people say Artimus Vom Haus Mansfield does his grandfather Quartz proud. Artie is a driven bugger, with a definate genetic taste and desire for the work. After two sessions on a rag, at 7 months old Artie got the taste of the adult sleeve this weekend, and loved it. Now, if I can just get him to focus more on me in obedience, then I may have a shot. Don't suppose anyone knows where I can get a kevlar bra? The drive for the ball is insane!
