Nouchko

I own a quantum arminius puppy that just turned 11 months. I think and I hope I'm wrong that it is only Panel. Tomorrow he will be getting his xrays. My question is: Does anyone own a quantum arminius puppy that has Hip dysplasia?

I'm sure someone owns a quantum dog with HD.

Don't get too worked up until you see a vet.  Could be pano, pulled muscle, sprained, or even an infection from stepping on something.

Hi Nouchko!

Good advice from Don Corleone.

Want some figures?

884 doggies have been sired by Quantum and registered until SV-Genetics 3/2007.

Just for the record: Quantum already has 132 HD-1, 87 HD-2, 19 HD-3, 6 HD-4, 3 HD-5 and 33 HD-6.

Remember, most bad results are NOT sent in. Take it from here to check your chances.

Hope your dog will be just fine. Don't hesitate to report or contact me. Good luck!

Nouchko and m_zaki40, don’t worry about statistics!!! Statistics can be very useful when making a decision on which dog to choose, but they mean NOTHING when it comes to YOUR dog, that you already have.

You either have a dog with healthy hips or you don’t, and it has nothing to do with what other people have. X-ray your dog before you get worried. You can x-ray as early as 4 months old to get some idea.

Good luck!

I am a newby I know I am 2 for 3 on bad hips possibly 3 for 3. All are fixed anyway the one with the possible good hips had one testicle so he was no good to breed either. Can you tell me what the numbers above mean please?

Thanks Diane

It means any one of his pups.any where with a Quantum pup could have HD....it doesnt matter what the numbers of Quantum are....55 years of breeding behind him and the Dam are where the genes fall from  and it is not all hereditary anyway.....food environement and how you raise the little devil count for 50% of the reasonings of this Hd...

Nouch:    no it is not cureable...if exrays show his sockets are bad and the end is not even in the socket , then you have lots to do to keep him in good condition....if he isnt whining or having a hard time getting up and down and only llimping....I would guess Pano.....never know...is he large boned. big feet? big knees? big dog?    read up on Hd and how to keep your puppy fed....and not to overjump or let spread eagle or jump off of or on to tailgates and high places until hes older...nutrition is 65%of keeping the bones healthy and joints also...should start with the breeder......in the womb.

How can anyone expect Quantum to give good progeny referring to HD?

He himself has an HD-2 result, which is still better than two of his littermates, who have HD-3! (Quaros and Quote). So he has "mild" dysplasia, whatever that is. One either HAS HD or one doesn't.

Quantum comes over Dux della Valcuvia and Max della Loggia dei Mercanti. We know their x-rays have been made somewhere else, I challenge them to be done in Belgium for comparison. We also know Max comes over Jeck vom Noricum, who is one of the most famous HD-3 doggies of all times. Defended by many, doomed by Max von Stephanitz, if he were alive. Quantum's "not so good"-hips are the result of breeding regulations that do not deserve the definition, as they don't "regulate" anything, but "allow" everything.

Looking back through the pedigree on mother's side, you will also find all the "Noch Zugelassen's" you need, to confirm Quantum and the hips he reproduces are all in the breeding history.

Hip dysplasia can only be reduced by eliminating so-so-hips!

And HD-2 dogs DO NOT belong in the Vorzüglich Auslese-group!!

Since when is HD 2 considered displastic Jantie?  HD 2 should be equal to OFA good .  HD 1, HD 2, and HD 3 are all passing hip scores...= NOT DISPLASTIC.   My noch zugel girl produced several litters, not a single case of displasia and when she was 6, she was spayed, hip xrays redone and got OFA fair.  I'll take my HD3 girl and her production over any HD1 or OFA excellent dog that produces *any* displasia.  Proof is in the pudding sort of speak.  The value of a breeding dog is often unknown until the progeny are well into adulthood.
