Hello all,
I happened upon a website of a breeder offering their male for stud, one of the requirements was for a female to either be 2 years of age or at least on her 3rd heat? I know people say wait until age 2 to breed your female because by then they should have received the minimum of SchH1 but I was wondering as far the physicality of the female why age 2 or the 3rd heat cycle? Is a female mature enough physcially on her 3rd heat cycle or at age 2?
Thanks

By the time a female reaches her 3rd heat cycle she should be near two years of age. The question I would ask is why the breeder requires age/number of heat cycles vs. hip/elbow certifications? Maybe they do, dogs need to be two for OFA but only 12 months for A Stamp...
