I went to look at them at Petco today. The large is $54.95 and the medium is $49.95 here in Maine. It's E-Bay for me, but which size is best for GSD's? Also, can anyone suggest a rubber or rubberized mat for on top of the plastic tray in the xlarge wire crates? Anyone ever try the dri-dek tiles that snap together? Thanks for the help.

Heidi, I think my Furminator is the medium size, it's yellow with a black handle and a 2 3/4" blade. I think it's the perfect size for a GSD. No suggestions for a rubber mat.

Get the large one. I got mine at the home shopping network. HSN.
It was cheap and shipped very quickly.

I got medium and couldn't be happier. I now have a nude GSD. LOL

Ninja, we were camping and I saw yellow lab that looked like it had been shaved to the skin. Long story short, the owner and I started to talk and when I asked about the dog's coat he said he just bought a new grooming tool, a Fur-something-or-other and got carried away . I'm pretty sure that tool was a Furminator.

LOL Blitzen.
My friend at work got a little carried away in one spot on her cat and it was the same thing. :)
I have the medium one and got it on QVC.
Here's a couple of links.

I just got myself the large size.. My goals is to get as much off with less time :D
For $38.84 you can get a Large size FURminator :)

Brittany, I think the only difference is the width. That was pretty funny about the yellow lab. Let us know how well you like yours when it comes in. If you got a large for $38 it sounds like a good deal. Also if for some reason the actual blade broke, you can buy replacement blades or combs whatever it is called. Anyway they are very rugged and seem unbreakable.

OK I just got my furminator and it really gets the undercoat out. However, I used it very gently and noticed it was still pulling some guard hairs out. Any suggestions how to stop it from doing that?
