Looks like show lines to me, is there another reason they would call this DDR?

The dog in question is out of German conformationlines. The breeder von Adeloga would not havve used East German lines.

DDR is an abbreviation and stands for Deutsche Demokratische Republik, translated into German Democratic Republic (GDR). The GDR ceased to exist  when the wall came down on November 9, 1989. Fanciers of the East German lines like to refer to the descendants of these dogs as "DDR dogs".

Wrong.  A 100% DDR dog can have a SZ#.

I have a CZ import that I will register with the AKC.  That doesn't make it American.

Note:  The wall has come down.

FM2410, I don't know why it said (it is gone now, somebody corrected it) DDR. Your guess is as good as mine! Keep in mind that most dogs  on the database are entered here by their owners. Sometimes, the information is incorrect.

As to the SZ Nos.: The wall came down in November of 1989 and the SV integrated the East German breeders into their club. There were no more DDR #s after that date. Before that date, some of the East German dogs came to the West and there issued a SZ-No., as an individual registration. Any foreign bred dog would receive that if ownership changes to an SV member residing in Germany. Other dogs, although not residing in West Germany, appeared in pedigrees that often that they were issued a "fictious" SZ-No. for database purposes (the SZ900..s).

Dogs listed SZ-900-series numbers were either imported from another country and "appendixed" into the SV, with that series to designate them.  This appendix also applied to dogs transferring over from the DDR to the SV.  So many of the dogs will have both the SZ-900 series numbers and their DDR or Cz reg number.  Some of them, registered under the DDR were also later given a full SZ-registration number, not the 900-series, such as Lord v Gleisdreieck and Neumann's Jim, as well as many others.  Often times on current SZ papers, wou will only see the SZ number for those dogs, although they had both.

Altostland,

foreign bred dogs that are or were imported into Germany and were owned by an SV member residing in Germany will and did receive a regular SZ No. The 900er nos. were fictious numbers used when they combined the databases.

Just look at Max della Loggia dei Mercanti as an example: www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/343.html Italian born and German (co-)owned for a few years before going back.

The 900-nos. were fictious numbers used when they combined the databases.

Chris
