For those who know their stuff, can you give me your educated insight into this litter?

www.sunrisegsd.us/Puppy.html

I'm looking for a nice family companion first and foremost, though I am interested in getting into Schutzhund, Obedience, or Protection training.  Thanks guys!

no mention of any titles for the parents - nothing at all - no hip ratings either?  What IS there about this litter?

My good friend Molly is right.  They don't even have a pedigree to look at.

I found both dogs on the data base. If can find titkes if you go 3 generations. DDR & Showlines. Why don't they have pedigree & hip ratings on the web site?

mothers lines- no titles shown for at least 6 generations - in those 6 generations, 11 had no hip ratings, OFA fair or noch zugelassen

I did not even BOTHER to check out the father lines.

that's my opinion too - when you see dogs being bred that have no titles, no hip ratings, not even pedigrees to look at on their litter announcement - and when you do look at pedigree, not even parents/grandparents were titled/hips done - - why bother looking any furthur?  Doesn't make sense to me to even ask about this litter.

If you (and no one else)  trains, titles and hip/elbow certifies your dogs, how can you (or anyone) expect to know what you are producing even ONE generation down the line? ANY puppy is a gamble. Why stack the odds against yourself going in? Remember: the LEAST expensive investment one has in one's dog is the initial purchase price. Its the years of feeding and care that cost you the money. It costs just as much, and often a LOT more, to properly care for a dog from questionable/unknown family background as it does for a dog who's family has proven their value as far as soundness, overall health, temperament and working ability.

No one hears as many horror stories about dogs people bought from someone who didn't have a clue what they were producing, and doesn't care what their buyers went through after the sale was complete, than a good, reputable breeder.

Right Molly? Chris? We can lead 'em to water, but....

yes I hear it all the time - people contact me saying "we are doing the research this time, we want to get the right dog THIS TIME - this is after 14 years of vet care, meds, and living with a dog with health/temperament (or many many other potential problems)  for the dogs' lifetime.
