Guys I am a total newbie and if this has been asked before I am sorry.
I was walking my dog a week ago and this guy stopped and wanted to talk about my dog, long story he wants to stud him with his dogs. I have never done this before and when I called my breeder to get the paper work the guy asked for I was told it would cost $100 to get the paperwork from Germany needed to file with the AKC.
Is this correct?
Both dogs are imports.

OMG Why would you breed without knowing anything about the other side's lines, health, breeding goals and 1000 other things? And the other party wants your stud without knowing the same things about him? Someone here recently asked for a definition of a backyard breeder. Thanks for providing a perfect one. I can't imagine the pummeling you are going to take on this board, so I think I will just step out of the way.

First off I never said I was going through with it (but in your defense I did leave that part out of my post) , Second I asked a question about paperwork and appropriate fees.
But hey thanks for coming out and taking the time to bite my frigging head off and being a first rate smartass....
You assume the guy did not look at my dogs Pedigree and I did not look at his. FORGIVE me for not writing a book in my post just to ask a question about paperwork......

Yeah, talk about jumping to conclusions, PSP!!
Someone a little prejudiced against the AKC, perhaps?
The breeder of my pup is currently going through a nightmare with trying to get her sire's registration transferred over. Of course, I haven't posted about it, because I know somene would probably rip me a new one for being so dumb as to buy a pup when the breeder did not have papers in hand, and probably rip HIM a new one for allowing the situation to happen. He was not trying to screw me, it just happened due to a whole chain of unfortunate circumstances.
I'd certainly be curious to hear an informative, non-judgemental answer to Wolf's question.

LMAO. Wow, I am first rate!!! In all honesty though, I cannot claim that, there are many others with whom I do not even begin to compare.

Boy ... I can't help much but the correct paperwork was included in the price of my pup, which was 800 euros. The paperwork arrived about one month after the puppy.

When I received the dog he had paperwork, all in German with the OFA rating. So I really do not know what I am missing.

the assumption is that if you knew about the pedigrees and suitability to breed, you would not need to ask about the paperwork.
the SV hip scheme is called an 'a' stamp - here in the US, we use OFA - what age was your dog when imported? or was he born here and you got USA pink papers and an OFA certificate? or was he imported and a previous owner got an OFA on him?
