Would you sell a dog to someone who lived in the ghetto?

Would you sell a dog to someone who lived in a trailer park?

Both potential owners appear to be responsible and have owned and cared for dogs in the past. If you wouldn't, explain your particular reason why.

I have a friend who lives in a trailer park. She's worked in animal rescue for most of her life. I'd sell her a dog over someone who lived in a big, fancy house, and was going to shove the dog in the kennel/backyard and neglect it, because they wanted to keep their fancy house spotlessly clean and free of dog hair.

decker how many dogs have you sold ????

GoldenElk,  I am with  Sunsilver on this one...   If you know and trust them or if you are able to get to know and trust them then you have to go with your own gut feeling....  Responsible Ownership does require a certain level of Financial Availability but is not limited to exclusive "snob nob" homes in my OP.  We are ok financially but our home is a 3 wide,  next to the shelter.... so we would be considered "Trailer Trash"  But we have the financial means to care for our animals,  We live here because of the "Job" I have.

decker, who are you to speak on any breeder's behalf? You're certainly not speaking on mine and I'm pretty sure you're not speaking on many other's behalf either.

I have turned away potential buyers with money becasue I felt the pup wouldn't get the kind of treatment I approve of. And I have sold pups to people that live in a trailer park. I don't judge people's ability to love, care for and provide a good home for a pup based on whether or not thier house is permanently attached to the ground.

Hey Decker,

What if it were Michael Vick living in a trailer in the Ghetto?

I know, I know a tasteless joke, but how could I resist.  I laughed my ass off at your comment.  I am glad you had the courage to post that response.  It is amazing how funny the truth can be sometimes.

Decker,

How rude...I certainly hope you're not a breeder, because your comment is SICKENING. MANY of us ACTUALLY think of something OTHER than our wallet's girth!

I will be honest, I would refuse a home in a Trailer Park, because I don't believe a dog can be walked enough times in the day, to fully satisfy them, the way a 20-30minute RUN could. Goldens and Shepherds are BIG dogs, they can't be satisfied with one walk around the block.

As to the Ghetto...The situation has never arose where a client's actually lived there, but its unlikely that I will becontacted by any family living in the Ghetto, because I currently breed Goldens, and as many of you know, they are NOT guard or protection dogs. If I were breeding Shepherds, I'd be mighty leary about letting a workingline Shepherd go to the Ghetto...I hate to label here, but I watch Animal Planet, I see what kind of homes they pull the abused or fighting animals out of.

The rich will hire someone to take care of the dog, and take the dog to the vet.  They want the dog just for show or for security, not to love and be a part of the family.  I have dealt with people like this before and needless to say, they didnt get the dog.  Id much rather sell to someone who lives in a trailer park where the dog will be kept in the house with the family.  Usually these type of people will spend their last dime for health care of their very loved family member.

There are many with very little that will do better than the few with a lot.

QUOTE:

I will answer on behalf of most breeders.Honest answer: I would sell to anyone who came up with the cash no matter who they were, they could eat the pups for all I care.

Now dishonest answer: I would first screen the buyers blah blah blah.

AWESOME ! ! ! ! !

Like screening works. They come on these boards and the answers are given out for free without any thought to who is asking.

Plus, that is some funny shit. For every 1 breeder that is screening a buyer for a puppy out of a litter that no one even asked about........there is 500 breeders doing exactly what Decker has said.

My point is if no one wants a puppy from your dog, ie the litter is still not sold by the time they are born, maybe no one wanted your shit to begin with. Too many "screeners" that aught to stop fuckin breeding.
