wondering about weight - Page 1

my 16 week old pup weighed in at 43 lbs today, is this a good size for a male that age? he is a german german shepherd and i've read that they are bigger than american, is this true? and if anyone can have a look at his pedigree and tell me anything about it that would be great, i am so clueless about this stuff,(i've only owned mutts before boss) i've been on this comp close to 3 days straight trying to figure it all out, so any advice would help, thanks yall.

Do you have your pups pedigree on this site?  What breeder did you get him from?  German line shepherds are actually usually on the smaller (well-standard that is)side than typically oversized American bred dogs.

I haven't seen many American lines that are bigger than the imports. Maybe taller, but heavier? Naw, not here in the east.

43 pounds sounds like a good size for a 4 month old puppy. My guess is he will weigh in at 85, 90 lbs as an adult assuming he's not too heavy right now.  My first GSD was 126 lbs. half German, half American; Blitz is 97, 100% German showlines.

He is a nice looking little man of a pup. The weight looks to be due to all that bone. I hope you don't experience Pano with him.

I brought Dante home at 4ish months old.  I found that he was in the same weight as monthx10 range until 7 months.

So in his 4th month he weighed in the 40's in his 5 month he weighed in the 50's etc.

He's settled in at 80ish pounds at 3
