What is the average range for a puppy to gain in the first few days and weeks?

One of the very helpful people on this site gave me this link, which explains it all pretty well

As you probably know, you should weigh the pups daily for the first couple of weeks to make sure they're getting enough nourishment.

I was going to give you the same site.  Great information on it.

All I can add is if they aren't getting enough to eat you will hear about it as they will be complaining.

I have an Excel spreadsheet that shows weight gain for GSD males and females from birth to maturity, categorized as small, medium, and large.  If you have Excel and would like a copy send me an email and I'll share a copy of the file.  The reference data is from Fred Lanting's growth study on GSD's.

I doubt my 5 month female is 44# as listed on that site. And at 3 months she was 32, not 26, then at 4 months she was 35, not 36. She only gained 3 # instead of the 10. Not sure what she weighs now. She seems to be growing much more slowly than when I first got her.
