K9 took 2x4 to head in Kalamazoo Michigan - Page 1

I just saw on the news that in Kalamazoo a K9 and his partner were in pursuit of a 56 year old man. The man took a 2x4 and knocked the K9 right in the head. His partner said that his dog fell down and got back up and went right after the guy. Needless to say the guy went to jail, and the K9 went to the vet and is resting at home with his partner. I would have to say that is one hell of a hard headed dog, and a damn good one at that. Just thought it would be nice for people to know what these dog's can go through in the line of duty.

Thanks Kelly.  We have friends in LE K9, it is amazing what the dogs can do then go home and be the family dog too.

We have known for a long time the GSD is hard headed..... I hope the SOB stays in jail for a long time and the beloved k-9 gets a steak.

From what I did catch on the news, is they caught the guy, and he was taken in a ambulance and then he jumped out of it(while they were driving) and took off running. That is when the K9 took pursuit and followed the guy behind a lumber yard, and that is when the guy took a 2x4 to the K9's head. In our area we just don't hear a lot of stuff like this against K9's. Personally I think it's stupid to mess around with a K9 let alone the law enforcement to begin with.

I live only a few minutes from there and my dad is a retired Public Safty Officer on this same department that the K9 was assulted.  Yes, they will definitely make it stick and the guy is in jail at this time.  I have talked to a friend who is a lieutenant on the force and he said yes that it is felony and attempted murder on a police officer even if it is a dog.  They will definitely go for all they can on this guy.  The K9 is resting comfortably at home with his owner.
