Does anyone know of a vehicle ramp that would work with a truck for the door-not the bed? My truck is high enough that I don't like my dogs jumping out-usually on pavement-because of the impact. I just can't see that it is a good idea for them to have the repeated shock of this.  If anyone has any suggestion, please let me know.

Thanks,

Dawg

i've seen ramps advertised in jeffers catalog, foster and smiths catalog and at petsmart that fit in the back of van/suv for the dog to walk up or down. i don't see why it wouldn't work w/truck door unless you have one of those "monster" trucks.

I bought one. My truck is a little high and our pups can't get in and out. Baden hated assistance as he got bigger, (must be a male thing) and started balking at the car. The ramp fixed the issue once he got the idea. Mine has no brand name on it and I can't remember who makes it. It is solid, with a little lip to set on the bumper or door jam. There are tri folding ones and telescoping ones. I now wish I got the telescoping ramp, as it can be adjusted to just the right height. Sometimes the long ones are a pain because you can't fit them between parked cars if you are exiting the side, not the back. The telescoping ramp works well because you can shorten it up and just make the ramp steeper in that incident. My solid ramp is great for the side doors as I can set it on the running board of my SUV. In the rear I have to set it on the part of the bumper that is cut away for the license plate. It wont reach the top of the bumper and my vehicle is still standard, no big tires or lift.

The angle of the incline is too much for a small pup or uncoordinated dog, such as a senior or sick dog. Basically my dogs use the short ramp like a step, to launch the rest of the way in. Like I said, if I could go back I would buy the telescoping ramp for a few more bucks. It looked like it would hold up better and be more convenient than the tri fold. Also I believe it's smallest size is about that of my short ramp, so it wont take up any more room in the car.
