I'm just curious and wanted to hear from people who have had experience with this kennel-- good or bad. I had considered getting a pup from them but I think I've changed my mind. With all the dogs they sell I'm sure there are lots of people here that have dealt with them...I would really like to hear more details from the people who say they've been ripped off:

Dog killed owner's cat?

Dog bit owner's son and owner?

Dog with inflammitory bowel disease?

Dog not trained as advertised?

Try and remember for every bad kennel, there are 10 crappo customers fouling up the works.

Using your examples:

Dog killed owners cat:  Did the owner tell them they had a cat??? Did the owner responsibly introduce the two animals?? Was the type of dog the owner requested probably not going to do well with a cat??? I have had dogs that will not touch the cats that live in the house, but all other cats get muckled.

Dog bit owner and son: Where they goofing off "testing" to see if the dog was "protective" or not??? How many of you have heard of the boyfriend grabbing the girlfriend and acting spooky to "test" a dog that they have raised from a pup??? Now they buy one that is good to go, and get nailed like they should have. What are the odds that dumass is going to tell the truth???

Sick. This can happen to the best breeders and trainers out there, so it should be their quick reaction to get you to a vet and pay for it providing it was a reasonable amount of time. Remember, there are a lot of dogs out there that could have all kinds of problems and still be out running and playing ball. Everyone gets faked out sometimes.

Not trained as advertised: PLEASE, OH PLEASE tell me that people do not actually think that if I train a dog and sell it to you that it is a done deal and the dog will do everything just perfectly. Most trainers can tell you how many people own dogs that do not respect them or listen to them, and the owner is bad about even trying to get a bond going.

I do not know these people, but I do know a couple of things. People nowadays can screw up a wet dream, so a pup is a breeze. Whining and crying gets you were you want to go, so most people cry and whine. If things are not going their way immediatly the dog is crap.

Crimson:

We are the owners of the "inflammatory bowel" dog purchased from KraftwerkK9.  Based on our experience with Wayne Curry, we would not do business with him again or recommend him to anyone else.

At the time of purchase our dog was a 2 1/2 year old, V-rated son of Larus von Batu, SchH1, KKl1.  He arrived sick and under weight.  He had been at Kraftwerk about a month after being imported from Germany.  Curry initially was cooperative and offered money toward vet bills and blamed stress and giardia.  After months of testing and a final diagnosis, he recinded that offer and refused to discuss a reduction of the purchase price as well.  Our vet and gastroenterologist specialist both provided documentation that our dog was very sick, required life-long care, and should not be bred.

Of course, after caring for this beautiful animal for months, we would never have given him up but felt we got nowhere near what we paid for and should have been compensated for that.  We were also very disturbed that Curry would sell an obviously sick dog to us or anyone else.  It does not speak well of his business ethics and, as we unfortunately found out, the consumer has very little recourse, especially if you are out-of-state.  The good news is our boy will be 4 on Tuesday, but it has been a struggle (and a very expensive one).  He still takes an antibiotic, prednisone, and an immuno-suppresant every day.  We also must give him B12 shots every week because his body does not process it correctly.  He can eat only expensive prescription low-fat, low fiber food sold by the vet.  Even with all this, he has periodic flare-ups (after vaccinations or sometimes for no apparent reason)  which result in explosive diarrhea for weeks.  We can not neuter him for fear it will cause a major flare.

It has been a painful learning experience for us:   Beware of slick web-sites and slicker salemen.  What's right and fair doesn't mean much.  And never purchase an animal unless you have laid your hands on it.   We were not novice GSD owners, having purchased our female as a pup from a reputable kennel.  In our desire to purchase an adult male, and not finding what we wanted locally, we had a serious lapse of judgment that has cost us dearly.  However, when I look in the eyes of our lovely boy and see the gratitude, I can temporarily forget my antipathy for Wayne Curry and Kraftwerk.  Good luck on your purchase.

At those prices, the dog should be able to wipe it's own butt.

by DoubleX on 05 July 2007 - 13:07

Sorry.

The price did not include being a trained wiper.  Unfortunately, he licks it like everyone else's dog.  Either way, it doesn't help much when it's all over the floor because he could not get to the door in time.

I hope the dog was daignoses correctly . Did the Vets test for pancreatic Insufficiency? Sounds like the Symptoms of it. And if that is the case PI is much easily managed by giving the dog pancreatic enzyne powder on it's meal ? --makes me wonder because I have seen this inumerable times .. and out of VA progeny.

"Slick" is a good word for this breeder/dealer.  Do your homework and be careful.

They are absolutely great at marketing. Thats why they fetch the prices they do. Nothing wrong with making gobs of money if it is a business but, prices on those pups are foolish.

I would look into doing an all raw diet and NO vaccinations ever again on this dog.  The pred will eventually be the demise of this animal.  If it is EPI raw pig pancreas is a good thing for him.  I would think about totally putting this dog on holistic living and supplements and get him off the other meds....
