I am wondering, How much weight does a Seiger Champion hold in the working classification Of German Shepherds? I noticed when asked who to breed with, no one mentions Any of the Seiger dogs. I am looking to buy a male myself to intro into my lines and thought that the Rikkor line was good. What am I missing???? I want working dogs, and I AM going to get into a Schutzhund club. I truly want to pursue this, and I want to get it right.

This is just my opinion, and with doing any research it is just that, an opinion and not a fact. Perhaps it is because the Sieger is too heavily used for breeding and most believe that (a) there must be some diversity and (b) there are other dogs who are better examples of the breed who did not make Sieger or even the VA list. I know that is sometimes my opinion.
Also, since the Sieger tends to reside in Germany and has but a limited number of breedings each year, then he is not available for anyone but those who have the best connections and accessability to the owner. A rare case was when the VA-1 (x2) Yasko Farbenspiel was stateside some time ago for an extended stay.
And, again this is my opinion, and I do not say this to knock the current Sieger or any recent Sieger dogs. There are many excellent examples of the breed who merely received a "V" rating at the BSZS or the BSP and these dogs are much more available. So, if you are serious about Schutzhund sport I recommend that you first find a club (you may need to hang out with two or three until you find some people who are willing to help) and see who is represented there. You may find some excellent dogs whose only connection to a Sieger may be as far away as the fourth or fifth generation.

If you want to do the sport and your looking for a dog, your best bet is working lines not show lines. the sieger show (BSZS) is the big show for the show dogs. there is a working portion that the dogs have to do but it's so watered down that it has become a joke. the big show for the working dogs is the BSP. 99% of these dogs are breed and selected for work.

Thank you!!! That is where I am looking to head.I want working dogs. Now, with the help and "opinions" of those with working dogs, I may be able to head in another direction. To be truthful, I thought I had the BEST DOGS., As Grandfathers, I have Flex V Blauen Modeneser, Irk von Arminius, Eros von der Malvenburg,, Quanto Arminius, Quanto Weinerau, grandmothers of Karly Arminius, Dunja Weichental, Ulli Fleischerheim, Wildesteigerland, etc.,..I am looking to get a working line male that goes with my females.
I sell "a few pups" I get $10000.00 -!200.00 for my dogs. There are many where I live for $250.and up. I never have a shortage. I give 100% guarantee" Hips, Health, Temperment". If a hip problem comes up(8 year), I will replace your dog! Hopefuly, you will want to keep your original. HAVE NEVER!!!! Had, Hip, Health or Temp. propblem. NEVER.
I have researched as many dogs in my dogs pedigrees aS i COULD POSSIBLY VIEW (FOR OFA CLASSIFICATIONS). i HAVE NEVER STUDDED MY DOGS OUT,don't have time to research strange pedigrees, don't want to be associated with a problem)
I just made a new sight with msn groups,I will be putting up my pedigrees and pics of my dogs. I really am after "Constructive critism). If everyone is into improving the breed, help me, don't knock me. I want "the real deal German Shepherds."

Funny, cause I have NEVER seen a working GSD that didn't look like a GSD. May not have been the conformation "ideal", but certainly within the standard and fitting the guidlines of the standard. IMO that is what a standard is for, but then when a lot of the dogs winning "conformation" shows not looking like the ideal standard either, really what is the difference?? I seem to remember a quote about GSD's being bred for work, or it ceases to be GSD breeding. Something along those lines anyway.

Mr. Videx you MISQUOTED... working dawg was refering to the Working Tial part of the BSZS

videx,
do you disagree that the protection phase at the sieger show is weak at best.
by marci on 03 July 2007 - 21:07
What I know is... more important is that your dog "AUS" or else you will be place to the rear of the line... Useless to have a dog that hits the sleeve but does not OUT... And I think...they just have that protection part of the BSZS just to see if the sieger is a worthless piece of shit... You get BOOS and Whistles which is not very good if you own and bred the dog itself...
