Sounds like they might just want to do a BH or are they doing the retrieves/send out too?
The thing I liked about Sch OB over AKC was the dogs look more animated and happy.

The BH is a pre-requirement to attaining SchH titles. You can just do SchH OB, they even have trials in just SchH OB. It's not a breeding title, rather it's just a test. The dog does get an OB1, 2 or 3 after it's name though. It has the same routine as the complete deal, but just the OB portion.

GoldenElk , no the BH is not a serious title but as gsdlova said a requirement before the actual Sch titles. It is a sort of 2 part temperment test. First part is obedience second part the dog is put in various situations to see its reactions. It depends on the judge what he wants to do to test the dog, there is usually a car involved honking, a bike rider ringing its little bell, a non aggressive dog that all go by the dog being tested. In one of my BH's I had to down my dog in a group of about 15 people milling around, clapping their hands banging pots and pans. Then I had to leave the group, me and the judge BS'd then he told to call my dog out of the group.
As far is "is it more challenging" depends on how you look at it. I felt it was more relaxed, the dogs don't have to be so precision in the position. In AKC you got knocked for forging & lagging in the heeling. In Sch (when I was active) if the dog was forging but looked pumped and animated it wasn't such a big deal. If I remember right you can loose alot of points for screw ups in the retrieves but in AKC it is pass or fail that exercise.
gsdlova I didn't know they had just Obedience titles in Sch now, I had heard of the T1-3. I have been left in the dark ages LOL!!

Alot of clubs offer this now and I've seen some enter just for OB and/or TR. I've thought about doing it myself to see if I could only go in and have to think about one thing and ease up my trial angst!
I think that there's also a title where you do OB and Protection and forego the tracking. I forget what that one is called though. :)

DVG offers one that is VPG A, no tracking, obedience and protection only. Also Tracking 1 - 2 and Obedience 1 - 3 with no protection. Lots of defferent avenues to go and still work your dog.
