LOL, here we go again! I have a long coated shepherd, and YES I show him in conformation and he is doing quite nicely, LOL. He is a champion already and we are going for his grand championship! Chaos is a cool dog, and a great looking dog! Most of the judges just absolutly love him. If you want to show you long coat, you go right ahead and do it with some of our blessing! Although, you cannot show him in conformation for AKC, you can show him in UKC. Look at www.ukcdogs.com. They are world wide, just as AKC is, but they DO accept the long coated shepherd in the ring. If you need to know anything else, you can email me at sheps3c@hughes.net

Speaking of long hair shepherds - I just found this picture taken the day after Molly arrived from Belgium. I thought she looked like Alf from that TV show about the alien!! Shepherd Woman - do you know anything about the UKC obedience trials? Are they any different then say the akc - CD for first level obedience title? There is a UKC show in Quakertown next month which is near me, I thought I would give it a try for something different then the akc obedience trial.

Yes, we also do UKC obedience. UKC is more laid back, and a lot funner I think than AKC obedience. In the UKC, you do things a little differently. Like on the re call, you do your re call over a jump! You place the dog and then walk around the jump, stand, and when the judge tells you to call your dog, you call. If the dog does not go over the jump, come to you and sit directly in front of you, you get a NQ. Not qualify. And you also do a Honor Dog in UKC. You have to down your dog on the spot where the judge tells you to, and leave the ring out of site. While your dog is laying there, another person does the pattern that you have to do around your dog and your dog must stay there. I would get a UKC rule book from someone if I were you though, so you will know what they will expect from you in the ring with your dog. It is a lot of fun though. You have to have I believe at least 170 points our of 200 to qualify for a leg. When you get 3 legs, I believe your dog has the lowest title for obedience. I don't have my rule book out, so I can't say for sure. Try it though, I'll think you'll have fun.

The first picture is of Chaos a week ago, and the next is his first day with us. He knew he was king on his first day, LOL.

Wow how time flies. I can't believe it will be a year on the 16th, that we got Chaos. I just noticed that when I looked at that picture again.

I saw this post and starting laughing, NO OFFENSE TO THE POSTER, but we just had a very heated discussion on loving our LC's and the rest of the world could drop off. K91010, if you have one, just enjoy the ride, if you do not have one, get one and you can join in the fight. It is really quite fun.
Shepherd Woman, I check on on how you and Chaos did at the show, sounds like you had a great time, good for you.

Shepherd Woman: Thanks for the info on UKC obedience shows. Sounds like another venue to compete my dogs in obedience. Chaos is beautiful. I just love those long coated puppy pic's.
1doggie2 I also laughed when I saw the post - I thought - oh no, hear we go again!
