took my 7 month old male to my bredders vet because he still only has one testical
found out the vet feels he is krymtonite not really sure of the spelling or if that is the right word for it
anyway very disappointed ,i really do not want to fix him as he has alot of potential as a show dog
just wondering if anyone has an opnion , and should i wait to see if it drops on its own or is that just wishfull thinking

he has no potential as a show dog without both testicles dropped. At 7 months, it is unlikely the testicle will come down, but unless there is a time limit, you can wait a few more months and wait and see. There's nothing else you can do - can't make it drop. It's either going to come down late, or not. If it doesn't come down, he's a pet, you should receive a refund full or partial from your breeder, and he should be neutered.

Cryptorchids must be neutered
1. because the retained testicle can become cancerous or cause other health problems.
2. cryptorchids cannot be shown nor should never be bred, it is considered a genetic flaw that can be passed on.
You can wait a couple months to see if it drops but generally if it does not drop before they're 6 mos old it probably won't. I would not let it go on past a couple months though, I remember a story of someone had a cryptorchid that was about a year old...he became very aggressive, she thought the body heat caused the retained testicle to produce too much testosterone causing elevated levels of aggression. This aggression significantly decreased when the dog was neutered.
I personally would remove the retained testicle ASAP and either vasectomy the other one or leave it in until he's 2 years THEN have the second removed. I strongly feel Males should be intact until they fully mature (mentally and physically) But you must be responsible and not allow him to breed and pass it on.

I agree with Molly, but, IMO I think you should only recieve a partial refund IF he was sold as a show prospect. If he was sold as a pet IMO you are not entitled to anything, being a cryptorchid does not affect his "pet" status.

go to a holistic vet if you can find one and get an item called "mens" treasure
or "mr.stud", there was an item years ago that was an anterior pituitary stimulant.....discontinued of course, it has stimulants for increasing a studs libido, can also help with a testicle that is in the canal but doesn't know which way to go!!! and forget the cancer senerio, only happens in less than 5% of the males

It could be that there is some link between late testicular descent and permanent cryporchidism so maybe if it does eventually descend, it would be worth researching this before breeding.
One study I've seen, on the risk of cancer in retained testicles, put the risk at 13.5 times higher than normal dogs.
