Get a Real Dog?/ 1 doggie2, and others that help! - Page 1

hello,

 i've done alot of researching here since deployed. am learning pedigree's. have found ALOT of good information! Had some rather crappy replies to a dog that i purchase, but hey I AM LEARNING.

 i would like to hear more about your ''rat'' dog, and if possible see a few pictures. i try not to post much anymore as i do take what people say offensive as they don't know me, anything about me or dogs i have purchased! i'd say everyone has to start somewhere, and i have.being ''over here'' doesn't really help, since all i can do is read, watch video's and look at pictures to figure things out.

animules, has helped, and has offered to help when i transfer to my new station early 08'.AKVeronica has been a wealth of knowledge also and i appriciate all of it.

i've taken it so far as, when re-enlisting i ''tried'' to change to being an mp dog handler, but i guess the army needs us infantrymen more so that was a no go!

Kenny, the quickest easiest way to show you pics, is for me to add them to GARD's "rat dog" ped and then posting the link. The other way would be to upload the pics to an online pic sharing page ,but thats too time consuming. GARD is at work right now. I'm sure he will respond when he gets the first chance. Some days at work are busyer than others. You can also send me your email addy and I can send them privatly to you. Lucky for you I just took some new ones last weekend.

Hey Kenny, God Bless you for being there for us!  My son is a computer geek, but the NG has him in Iraq/Kuwait as infantry too.  He hopes to get out in October.

Got to make this short. I am going to a pretty big training weekend @ a local Sch club. What is it that you want to know about my little "rat dog". I have posted a few videos on here. What ever questions you have ask away and I will try to answer any questions you have to the best of my ability.

1st piece of advise--Don't take things personally. You have to have thick skin to be in the dog world. There are always those people who stir up shit or talk negativley about other people, trainers, and dogs. GSD people can be some of the worst. I have met some very nice and helpful people on this board. (Animules is a good one, Oldskool knows his shit. I wish he would come around more, Suincc is a good source of knowledge, to name a few)

I never served in the military, one of my bigger regrets in life. I am a cop so I can relate what your doing and thinking.

This IS a good board. I expect its like a second home to someone deployed... virtually anywhere.  Aside from the wealth of information here, there are a LOT of truly wonderful people who contribute generously to enhancing each others' GSD experiences immeasurably.

Of course there are, and always will be a few bad apples, but that's life. One thing I reallly appreciate, is the welf-moderating aspect of this board. I, like a lot of people, can get a little off-topic (or a lot) and will occasionally lapse unkind. But I I can always count on my friends on this board to bust me on those occasions, gently, for the most part, but firmly. I think I am a better person for it when the day is done.
