Nemex 2 - Page 1

I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can treat tapeworms with Nemex 2 to get rid of them?   Thanks.

you cannot, sorry.  You need fenbendazole (sold as safeguard with out rx, or you dvm can prescribe panacur, both are the same thing) It is a 3 day tx.  Powder mixed with food for 3 days.

nope nemex won't take car of tapeworms.  sorry.  panacur/safeguard as mentioned or drontal plus (pill form).  There's also a tapeworm specific medication called cestex. 

From your vet Droncit or Drontal ...... there is now an OTC tapewormer you can get in most catalogs ... Panacur which is the powder  I think is being referred to you do for 3 days and then again in 3 weeks won't take care of tapes either....

Droncit and Drontal are tablet form, one dose does it...

sorry you are right on the panacur not doing the common tapeworm.  too many wormer and worms to keep track of!

It is effective against the Taenia species of tapeworm but not against the Common tapeworm Dipylidium caninum.

I would use Praziquantel for tapeworms (Trade Winds, Tape Worm Tabs), contains same active ingredients as Droncit that is sold by RX only. There are very few products that kill more then one species of tapeworm. Praziquantel will kill the two main species in dogs. Fenbendazole known as Panacur or Safe Guard, only kills one species of tapeworm. Your vet should be able to tell you what species of tapeworm your dog has.

NOMO tape wormer works great.  Just make sure the puppy or dog is out side in 20-30 mintues or else you have a huge mess on your hands (carpet, floors and ect...)
