I understand these are German shows, but how does a dog qualify for these prestiges shows, can someone give me the break down for a dog to qualify for these events?

Thanks in advance.

LGA and BSP are trials, not shows. The dogs cannot qualify without their handlers :). Its a team effort. A dog cannot compete at an LGA or BSP with a different handler, or a handler with a different dog than they had when they qualified. Each region has differnet requirements for LGA qualification, but the basics for most regions are two outside trials with a score of 270 and SG in protection. Some of the larger LGs (LG = region, 19 regions in Germany) require a higher score to qualify for their LGA. There is no limit of entries that I know of for LGA trials (could be wrong). The number of competitors at LGA trials range from 20 to 60 something in the stronger regions. The LGs determine who goes to the BSP, most often the top competitors of the LGA but not necessarily so. Some also require that the team has competed at the FCI-LG trial that same year for example. Each LG is allowed to send x-number of teams (dog + handler). The number of teams competing per region is different from LG to LG, and they may also send two alternates in case someone of the regular qualifying teams cannot compete. The larger LGs will usually send the most teams. The SV has a breakdown of how many dogs each LG can send. In addition to that the BSP Sieger from last year can compete if he got a qualifying score at the current LGA trial, and it is still the same dog/handler team as last years BSP. The top 10 Bundes-FCI competitors also automatically qualify and several of the Youth Nationals competitors, though I don't have the number in my head right now. About 110-120 dog/handler teams in total can go to the BSP.
