Just for a laugh...

Shall we revisit the "one shot wonders" we have seen in the past? You know the ones: took one dog to the top, never/hardly heard of before or since? Little/no notable progeny from the dog, the handler, or maybe even the club that produced them. This ought to liven things up. Ha ha ha

1. Glenn Bennet and Buck von der Pfalz  -a solid reminder that after making the world team with the first dog you ever had.. it can be all downhill from then on.

Have fun!

I understand that this post is for fun, but it is very hard to reply with a candidate.  Sure, a name or two come to mind, but I think making it just once is an accomplishment to be proud of.  Do you know how many hit the big trials every year, for twenty years and never make it?

O.k., O.K! I guess I'll give you a few.

1.  Buffalo Bills

2.  Tiffany

3.  Debbie Gibson

4.  Teletubbies

5.  Neil Armstrong

6.   Ted Kaczinsky(sp.)

7.  Ford Motor Co.

8.  Enron

9.  The cast of Seinfield

10.  Mike Tyson

Don,

You forgot Monica Lewinsky! Talk about one shot wonders. LOL

Sorry Shelly,

I got a little off-track there. But I couldn't resist, and you have a good sense of humor.

Jackie Reinhart and her dog Niko von der Hochantenne.  If memory serves me right the first woman to win the DVG Meisterschaft in Germany and the first American to win the DVG Meisterschaft in Germany.

I cannot find Niko's pedigree on the database.  He was out of a showlines, VA Natz von Arminius and V Hilla von der Hochantenne.  I will try to enter the info on the pdb.   This dog should not be missing on here. He was gorgeous.

Shelly, and what would be the point of this, other than to make the people mentioned feel bad?

Sorry, I never cared for the backbiting and backstabbing that went on in equestrian circles when I was showing, and I don't much care for this thread, either. It's poor sportsmanship, IMO.

Though Don's suggestions  ARE kinda funny....

I think Jackie won more than once. Check the Archives on USA's site. I could swear I saw more than one. But I have slept since then.

I think many of us would be proud to come close to achieving what Glen & Buck did.  Most of us are not likely to ever compete at the upper echelons of the sport with even one dog.   I had the pleasure of meeting both of them when he came out to our club to give a seminar many moons ago.  Perhaps I am misunderstanding the tone here!

The tone of this, and most of my frivolous posts, is/was decidedly tongue-in-cheek.

Please keep that in mind.

I'm interested - not to bust on anyone - just to know who did what.
