Which male today carries forward the Fanto Hirschel line . I mean from the fathers side. Like Larus Batu carrying Jeck Noricum line. Why is fanto line lost afterall Fanto was 2 times sieger. I think correct medium size dog, Clean front,  good movement. Fanti Hirschel's line is avery good alterative to Jeck-Quando line also. Please comment

I saw one Fanto son who produced greater than average hip displasia.  Not sure how his line did in general?  For me I haven't sought the line based on that personal experience.

I would guess that the best way to find the answer to your question is to go to Fanto's pedigree and look at the progeny pictures which will include grandchildren.  You can also page through the progeny to check their hip ratings.  I have 2 Fanto Great Granddaughters.  Good hips and elbows, REALLY nice drives and conformation. LOVE them!

Hope that helps!

I think the Fanto line produce better females than males...thats why not being bred as often as the Tannemeise line thru Jeck and Ursus...remember males produce more than females and only few exceptional males I found from the Fanto line namely FREI hirschel, Triumph's Gucci  which I've read is a very good line to increase working ability... The Ursus line tend to bring larger offspring compared to the Fanto line (normally of average sizes) And I learned thru this messageboard, the S.V. is trying to bring up the line of Fando Sublick which is an important line coming from the Mutz lineage, also for working ability (you see showlines are only doing it now, breeding to improve on working abilty... They're probably going back to Quanto-Mutz instead of Canto-Mutz combos...I also postulated the Eiko kirschental line was only brought up because it was from Uran who was a superstar,  those where the days that Siegers pass on the sieger title to their next gen. (which sometimes happen also nowadays with S.V. politics) and that the FANDO sublick line could have better chances of improving  his line if only were brought to better bitches ( the better bitches were bred to higher VA to be sold faster...the VA puppy market)... Just a thought.

Marci,

Hope you are right about Fando as Mutz did give both conformation and temperament. Now if only they will bring some Marko v Cellerland back into the equation maybe we will see showlines that can consistently work at high levels. Just a thought!!

Fanto, while a superior dog himself in temperament, work, size, balance, etc., produced fairly average males. His only VA son, Watz Shornfelsen, produced good overall type and quality, but no outstanding male progeny. Fanto's brother Frei, who was less impressive, produced far better males who bred on. His descendants continue to be known for working ability. Fanto is represented today in several excellent mother lines. Look in the pedigrees of Timo Berrekasten and Vando Moorbeck.

Marci,

Good commentary. I had a Fando Sudblick grand daughter who was a ball of fire! I wish I had such working ability today. Best Wishes, Jonah

I have a Fanto great grandson here.  I wanted a good herding dog and he's been used in some herding lines in Germany.
