I was wondering does anyone know much about AI and blood levels. I have a female has 23 level and the vet says it is suppose to around 5. So she is past time to bred? I just purchased this dog. She had just came into heat the day i got her. So her 9th day was a 23 level? does this make any sense or could someone missed her coming in to heat and she was actually going out?

Texgsd you have to tell us which test you are talking about. If you are talking about LH levels, 23 is the LH surge and optimium for breeding. Could you mean 2.3 and the vet is waiting for it to rise to 5. The sperm can last up to 72 hours once injected. Day 9 also sounds a little early but every dog is different.
I had a female surgically impregnated and her LH at the time of implantation was over 20. Which according to the Vet was optimal. My female was also at day 18 of her heat!

I am talking about her progesterone levels. I dont know the levels work really so i am think is it possible that she is just bredable yet. to recheck in a couple days?

progesterone levels can reach 60!! it is just the rise with ovulation, if you haven't bred her i would suggest you try because the only place that level is going to go is down. do you have a stud dog, is he interested or are you already past her time. don't forget she could have bled very lightly prior to you purchase and if she is not a house dog, or in a crate or pen with newspaper and you don't look every day you would never know

the previous owner has been very helpful. since i am doing a frozen AI I am going to wait. I think the dog just ovulated earlier in her cycle. I dont think the owner missed the season.

If she is at 23ng and not 2.3 you better be breeding some time today 23 is a good number... once they are at 30-35 it is ALMOST too late. any time after 30-35 would be hit & miss.
Good Luck

If frozen I would do a transcervical Inseminationat at about 20-25ng,
