Just curious as to what everyone else uses for supplements in your dogs food?  The only thing I currently use is a fatty acid supplement, I have tried several different brands and the one I am most pleased with is Grizzly Salmon Oil.  I have one dog that has a problem with occasional loose stool.  Not talking diarrhea, just cow pie consistancy.  Fecal tests have been done, dewormings have been done, I have tried him on multiple foods and nothing changes.  He is the picture of health otherwise and has firm stool most of the time, any ideas?

IMO 2 things that should be added to dog food are digestive enzymes and probiotics.

When I got my puppy, the breeder recommended Dog Bloom. I've been using that on both my dogs, and they have beautiful, shiny coats and are full of energy.  http://www.dogbloom.com/Dogbloom/index.htm

Dog bloom products are AWESOME.  I use the Dogbloom VM Supreme, its the best i have found and love the results.  My litter last year had roundworms bad, after several fights with them, I finally won, but only after I started VM Supreme.  My pups bounced back fast and they caught up so fast to the weight they should be at and looked great.  I also have used the joint supplement on my labrador until the day she died. My angel <Bailey>.

I am considering switching my dogs to a raw diet.  Would anyone who has looked carefully at it let me know what it costs per gsd per day or week?  And how messy is it really -- must you feed outside or in a crate?  Thanks.

I recommend Vertex - I also give Olewo but won't say it makes dogs free of loose stool or beautiful coat etc - just a good healthy supplement IMO, good fiber and easy to feed (it also won't help make your dog more red).  I also feed digestive enzymes and probios - they are also not "miracle cures" for coat and loose stool - but good overall beneficial to the gut supplements.  Nothing can make up for feeding poor quality food though, the main diet must be first priority.
