Personally, I stay away from black when around my dogs as it shows up the hair so badly.
As for what the pros do (if I dare mention AKC shows here)...at Westminister this year, in the BOB competition, two women wore black skirts. One had black stockings and shoes as well. The third wore a brown skirt. The men wore dark suits (dark blue or black.) except for one fellow who was wearing grey or beige slacks and a brown tweedy sort of jacket. (His dog placed first.)
I really don't think it matters a lot as long as you look neat and professional and are wearing shoes you can run in without falling flat on your behind. The judge is watching the dog, not you.
All the best of luck to you and Chaos!

And AKC people think jogging suits look silly in the show ring. AKC/ UKC and SV shows are nothing alike in any way including the mode of dress. BTW I don't wear pumps, SchHBabe, I wear flat shoes with rubber soles. The handling methods are entirely different too. So as to not get my head bitten off this morning, I'll pass on getting any more specific than that as far as the skill of AKC handlers vs that of SV handlers. Not everyone can afford to hire a team of pros to present their dogs, not all of us want to, we like to do it ourselves for fun and that's where the UKC and, for some breeds, the AKC shows come in.
Sooner or later newer posters will learn to never admit that they show at AKC or UKC shows on this database. I hope I won't be shunned due to my particiaption in AKC shows. I don't show GSD's, maybe that will redeem me.
