Recurrent urinary infections

Hi everyone I wondered if any of you have had a female with this problem. When she gets an infection it is treated with antibiotics but it comes back every few weeks. Her urine smells fishy. I have done research and this is caused by urine being too acidic. I have been told that I can help control this with diet. Royal canin has been mentioned. Has anyone else had this problem and what food helped? I live in the UK so obviously food that I can purchase here. My female is in excellent health and fed a good quality complete food. I have recently put her on cranberry pellets which seem to be helping. Any advise would be gratefully received. Thanks

I had the same problem with one of my females. I kept reading the warrings on the Meds. So I did this for 7 days, took her off of it for 1 week then took her to the vet for recheck, no bacteria, ph fine, and crystals in Urnie gone.

Cranberry capsules 3 times a day, apple cider vinegar pills 1 time a day, vitiamin C pills 1 time a day

cranberry does the bacteria, apple cider vinegar does the ph level and the Vitiamin C breaks up the crystals

I agree with 1doggie2. In addition to supplying cranberry capsules, apple cider vinegar and vitamin C, dogs often love to forage on grass and cleavers (bedstraw) and chickweed which are all great herbs for urinary track infections. Uva ursi also (knick knick) if it grows in your area.
