I just thought we could all use some more pleasant posts to read.

ALL of my German imports have always stuck their faces (all the way up to the eyeballs) in their water to drink--I had never seen that until my first import!

One of my adult females likes to chase grasshoppers--she hops on them like a lion who's stalking them, barking and running everywhere! Just hilarious to watch...

Piro carries a three foot long log around as his "toy" and growls if any of the other dogs try to take it. He about knocks you down when he runs by--but he's having a blast! You buy a ton of toys and the dogs want a STICK!  haha  Reminds me of my son--bought him a ton of toys and he wanted to play with empty milk jugs!!

Good Post.  I think we all need it.

My 9 month old has a very effective way of keeping her little 5 month old sister in her place (literally):  She sits on her!  :)  It is so funny.  She started out holding her in a neck lock by lying with her front leg over her neck and then, as little sister started getting bigger, she decided she needed to put her entire body into it and now literally sits on top of her head!  The funny thing is, little sister lets her do it.

I have a feeling that won't last too much longer.  Little sister is growing.  lol

Oh, as far as the sticking their faces in the water, mine do what I call "go fishing".  If you put their ball (the one that doesn't float) in the water, they will stick their entire head in the water and blow bubbles until they grab it.  :)

Blitz's best trick is stuffing as many toys into his mouth as he possibly can. If they are small and soft, he can end up with anywhere from 2 to 4. Tennis balls are more difficult, his record is 3 but the 3rd one was only caught by one of his canines and dangled from his jaws for less than a minute.  Normally he only carriers 2  tennis balls (he has a small head - early neutering LOL). When I tell him to "put up" his toys, his gathers them all up and places them in his toy basket. LOL.

Ever wonder what the non-dog-owning public does for entertainment?

We have several dogs that are all blood relatives. All of the ones that are related to each other, all have the same silly annoying behavior, but only when you are wearing shorts. They walk behind us, and they put their nose in the back of your left knee. Doesn't sound too bad at first, but for all 5 of those dogs to do the same exact thing, and some never grew up together, it is just a family trait.

My youngest, at 5 months does the silliest thing of all...he knocks over the water bottle recycle bin, and hides all the empty water bottles around the house so he has something to play with later. Litterally, hundreds of dollars of toys scattered around the house, in a toy bin, and he wants to play with water bottles.

I have a 4 1/2 month old male GSD, Drake and two Border Terriers, Cooper and Nell.  Nell is the boss even though she only weighs 17 lbs.  Coop and Nell eat all of their food and then Nell watches as Drake slowly eats his.  Every now and then while he's eating he takes a few kibbles and puts them gently on the floor behind him for Nell, it is so cute, he's feeding her. But if he leaves any unfinished food and she goes to his bowl he runs over and pushes her out of the way, she can only have some on his terms!

Drake also gets this look on his face that I just can't explain and you know he's looking for trouble.  He'll run and grab anything he can get to before you have a chance, the pads from the crates, a shoe, etc. and then he runs all over the house.  He'll run into the living room and skid across the hard wood floor, get up and do it repeatedly.

My other GSD, Link, who died recently, used to hide behind the shed when it was time to come in.  He'd wait for Nell to come from the other side of the yard and then dive bomb her. She'd carefully slow down when in the "red zone" but he'd still get her every time.  When he got to her he'd leap over her, she'd give him a sharp yip and you could actually see a smile on his face. God I miss him so much I just ache :(

Sparrow, I feel for you. Dylan is gone almost 5 years now and I still think of him almost every day.

well since i've only seen my boy 'ernst' for the 2 weeks i was home from iraq and went and got him, i only have 1. when we got him their ob trainer said he didn't have much ball drive? but i soon found that he likes it enough to give it back on his terms.

well i get to chat on the net with a webcam once in a while, low bandwidth in iraq, with my wife and the other week it so happened she had brought him inside and wanted me to see him, so when she tried to adjust the camera so i could see him i guess he thought she meant' the ball is yours because i got a close view of his very clean teeth and inside of his mouth! only took a few minutes to get the cam back :D .

can't wait to get home and do some training with him! as he's suppose to be ''my dog'' ha ha ha, i think the jokes on me :D :D :D

sincerely,

kenny

My rescue was never given toys to play with, so he played with rocks. When I brought him home, he would pick up some of the bricks I had dug out of the flowerbed (part of an old border??) and carry them around. He'd then put them down on the ground, and push them with his nose until they started rolling, then bark at them, as if they were alive! He did this when I was digging the grave for my female shepherd, who died just 3 weeks after I adopted him. You would have thought he knew I was sad, and needed cheering up...

He now has lots of toys, but he still picks up rocks now and then, and carries them around. I try to discourage this, as it has badly damaged his teeth.

Tasha would stick her nose in her water bowl, and chase specks of dirt around, trying to catch them. Until I caught her in the act, I always wondered why the floor around her bowl was just swimming with water!

My 8 month old Anna loves to unplug the electric fence.  She doesn't chew on the cord, just goes and unplugs the darned thing.

GARD's pup Piston, likes to attack water and digs in her water bucket. If you have the hose, beware! Make sure the water is spraying away from you. Take earplugs if you take her swimming. She goes frantic the whole time high pitched prey bark non stop.

Baden likes the thrash his Jolly Ball to the point, I think his neck will snap and his head will roll away. He also likes to dump his water bucket and then crawl into the bucket as far as he can and lay there drinking what little water is left. Both dogs will drop any and all toys into the water as an excuse to go diving.

My daughters dog Bax, is fun to take to the river. Shes like a fish and doesn't get out of the water. She will spend hours digging up huge rocks from the river bed. Last time we went I found blood in my car, when I checked around for the source, her nails were so short from digging they were bleeding. She won't come back to the car with the rest of us. We waited for 5 minutes and honked the horn, finally when we started driving away she came running to get in. With a hug river rock in her mouth no less.

Trick is just sort of a duffus, no real talent. He likes to give kisses and he jumps up in your face for them. His favorite thing to do is stick his nose in the crack of your butt when you let him out of the kennel. If I have someone with me, they get the treatment instead of me. LOL He is great at shaking hands and giving the kids 5. He's the dog you can trust around any kid. My daughters friend comes to brush and walk him. They often use the dogs to pull them on rollerblades or accompany them to the park to play on the equipment. They do slides, swinging bridges and whatever else you can throw at them.
