There seems to be alot of this going round....mmmm do we still want to be silent and NOT do everything we can to protect our companions... You'll note some of these shootings occured completely INNOCENT, ie.. the dog shot in the home "cop in wrong home kills dog" no kennel would have helped that one !!! All of them claim they were being "attacked" 3 claim they could not use pepper spray because of the "side" the animal was on. It's THICK !!
If your now thinking twice.... Here's that link again NOTE: all of the below is copy/pasted from the page of the Inside Editions Page... I have not added or taken out anything from that page !!!!

Echo are you kidding me? You've pulled 24 links, from around the world, some dating back at least 7 years and you make the comment "seems to be a lot of this going round" ?
News articles ARE NOT written about the countless interactions of police around the world have with animals, both vicious and "innocent" where the cop/s DO NOT SHOOT the animal. Not a lot of papers sell with the headlines "Chicago Police report 902 interactions with pets today and not a one was shot, kicked, pepper sprayed, glowered at, or spoken harshly to. This is down from yesterday's 1102 kind and gentle interactions but up from last week's Monday's 812 interactions."
But thanks to the www you could spend the rest of your life hunting down (and finding) sensational stories until your heart's content.
If you want to get your dander up about Max's shooting - fine. It was a tragedy for that family. A WORLD WIDE TREND it is not.

Archer you right !! In fact since you brought it up thought I would give you this one...
I was called out the other night to the "scene" There had been an incident and someone had been very injured (I can not give details at this time) The dogs in the residence became adgitated and the officers, put them in a side room, called us, and waited until we could arrive rather than SHOOTING THEM !! hhh Go figure... Our guys here seem to have common sense, respect, empathy, sympathy, and maybe even some BASIC ANIMAL BEHAVIOR SKILLS !!!!
I was able to walk right into the room, leash each dog and exit the home with the dogs... Some friends of the victim asked if they could "look after" these dogs, The officers said they thought that would be a good idea, So I then loaded the dogs into the friends vehicle, 1/2 hour later she called saying they won't come out of the truck and they are growling, ( oh and 1 dog is a huge rottweiler) So rather than shooting them, she asked if she could bring them over to the shelter and if I could get them out, I said sure no problem.... she brought them I opened the doors once again leashed both dogs and walked them into the shelter, mmmmm NO dogs shot in this incident, that is amazing isn't it !!!
Now had these officers reacted in the manner of some of the above these dogs would be dead !!! Thank GOD our guys have alot of faith in me, matter of fact the sgt. made the comment, "That was too easy" and I hear that alot !!! But our guys have learned that if they have a "problem" animal that I can typically work with it and get it to come round, Not always but we have NEVER resorted to shooting a dog !!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER NOT ONCE, NOT SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE !!!
And NO I am not singing my own praises, just saying you know maybe LEO need some Basic Animal Behavior Training to accompany the rest of the training they go through, you deal with people, your likely going to have to deal with a PET at some point in your duties !!!
