it just means that it was done (aus) out of the land.  another country and thus the a6 rating.  it does not mean the dog is dysplastic.

HIP RATINGS ·         a1 - excellent ·         a2 - good ·         a3 - fair

·         a6 - denotes rating by a foreign hip evaluation scheme (ie OFA rating)

"A6" only means that the hips were done by a foreign system.

Does not signify where they were done or what their rating was.

a1 is not the same as OFA Excellent, nor is a2 the same as OFA Good.

Don't get confused by the terminology.

a6 is not awarded when a dog has an OFA rating. The SV will not recognize OFA ratings even if you would try to submit them.

In Germany you cannot breed without a passing HD evaluation (dogs born after January 2004 also need ED a-stamps now). The SV would not issue papers to the pups out of a dog that does not have a passing a-stamp or acceptable equivalent.

A6 means passing x-rays have been submitted from a country whose x-ray evaluations the SV accepts such as Italy for example. The a6 is a pass and includes all passing grades of a1, a2 and a3, but does not differentiate which one of the three it is.

The only failing hip ratings with the SV are a4 and a5. You will never see them appear in a pedigree.

Dogs previously a-stamped with a passing grade in Germany that have been OFA'ed later have come back with just about every passing grade the OFA offers. Some OFA results were better than the previous a-stamp, some were worse. There is no comparing the two, especially since usually repeat x-rays of the same dog come back with different results after they have been evaluated again, ie if you are not happy with the OFA result and resubmit (virtually impossible with the SV). Not an exact science and too easily influenced by too many factors.
