Does anyone know if you can give a pregnant dog flea treatment? I do not want to harm the pups and I am worried about giving her the poison they put on their back. It is time for her treatment ...she is biting and scratching now and I need to do something. Do you know of any natural ways to remove fleas?

Thanks

Most definately put it on her  that s how you keep fleas off the new pups  since you cant put anything on a pup till 12 weeks......I dont and have never had a flea in my kennel s nursery    I use frontline plus or advantage........put sevin dust in beds of outdoors dogs or around their bowls for ants if they are on dirt   on concrete i use OdoBan   no fleas no ant and no bugs period    but u dilute it and take dog out to run while you wash kennels down   and I use it on floor of kennel outside and along the birthing boxes to make sure no ants get in ,,,,,bugs in Texas are horrible    and we had no freeze this year....so I use bug lights, bug zappers, and make sure my fencelines get sprayed with Malathion as my one neighbor puts nothing on the poor dog she doesnt take care of but owns, if you get my drift,,,,,

Breeder4u, may I suggest Revolution, a topical product that is applied between the withers? I have used it during the pregnancy without any known complications, and I have successfully used it on puppies once they were weaned. Just obtain the correct dosage per the advice of your veterinarian.

i had a vet tell me to use one part lemon joy(dish detergent) and ten parts water. this will kill the fleas. also very effective on puppies.

Read the package of any product  you are thinking of... they all have very important information.. and also 1 - 800 numbers so you can call with questions.. do so if you have them!! Most instruct not to apply 2 weeks before or after birth..... Several of the products are labeled as safe... but please read the package!!

Allso, itching and scratching is not necessarily signs of flea infestation unless you have seen fleas and if you have them you will see them!!
