There are tons of Puppy Mills here in Texas without a doubt, and alot of breeders who are

less than ethical, in more than one way. But this just hit a nerve with me, a really bad one.

There is a breeder, who has bred their female German Shepherd at the age

of 9 months, and is clearly excited about the upcoming arrival of their puppies.

Is it just me, or is this breeder absolutely nuts?

Depends on what state you live in.  no pun intended!

Depends on what state I live in? What does that have to do with the fact that

someone BRED their German Shepherd at 9 MONTHS OF AGE. That is VERY

unethical in my opinion, I don't care where you live.

usimports,

That's absolutely disgusting. 9 months is still a puppy for crist sakes. If I were you I would post down the name of this breeder so that everybody could stay clear from this creep. I sure hope that this breeder doesn't have any daughters.. If people are more than willing to breed their bitches at such age would have no problem pimping out their daughters.

Just by reading this makes me want to puke! I wonder who sold that puppy to this breeder?

I would be careful about what I would say about this breeder...You may be sued for slander.Yes it is a young age for a female to be bred but it is within AKC rules, unfortunately. So there's not much you can do.

I agree, but I know people who say you should breed on the third heat, and others say wait until 24 months. Should you measure bey heat cycles or age?

You should measure by hip scores, structure and workability--preferably titles.

First of all, knowing what I know, I highly doubt this breeder even knows about the database. I don't even think they have internet to be honest. But seeing, I have said nothing, but the truth (which is that they BRED A 9 MONTH OLD BITCH ON PURPOSE), there is no slander to be sued for. Second, just because the AKC "allows" it, doesn't make it right. Breeding a bitch that young is just disgusting. The dog isn't even old enough to have had hips done. I just don't understand why someone would breed a dog so young. I  mean, she's still technically a puppy herself, and now she's going to be a mother.

It's just sad. Money is the motivation for far too many people, and in the end they don't seem to realize that they are do nothing but adding to the growing problem of pet overpopulation. There are so many GSD's out there already. Heck between Dallas Ft Worth and Houston alone we have AT LEAST 100 GSD puppy ad's in our papers on a weekly basis. Out of "wonderful house dogs, who have decent pedigrees" sometimes, even with no papers.

Oops, I didn't finish spelling out the rest of "DOING"...

"and in the end they don't seem to realize that they are *DOING* nothing but adding to the growing problem of pet overpopulation."

usimports,

AMEN! I don't think we can get sued for slander.. Heck our voices are protected by the amendment of the constitution.

I just LOVE the

First Amendment

:)
