I'm just curious as to whether everyone is a "pushover" like me and my husband. ;)
Both dogs sleep on the bed with me and my husband, eat in the kitchen, and just go out in the back yard (we have a privacy fence) when it's time for potty and/or exercise. They're very lucky that we have a large back yard, but I STILL have to scoop the poop because IT IS GIANT! LOL
We're knocking around the idea of getting another GSD baby...tell me I'm crazy. LOL

CanaBoo: My dogs live inside with me, but only one sleeps in bed. The others have their favorite blankets on the floor. I have a fenced in yard, and also my "dog corral" that I put them in when the husky next door is out fence running. I also had a pen built in my walk out basement that I put them in when I am not home. The crew has created a lot havoc when I have left them unattended in the house. One time when I was away on a business trip, my Nephew was watching them and locked them in my bedroom at night. He woke up to find the sheets shredded, the mattress torn and the curtains ripped off the wall. Libby was bleeding all over the place. During their ransacking she had managed to declaw her self! The vet bandaged it up and when I got home the next night, she came limping out of the bedroom, looking pathetic. My niece told me she had not limped all day until she heard my car pull into the garage. Such an actress.
I have had 4 gsd's at one time, but currently are down to 3. I don't think you are crazy at all to consider another one!

Hi! My dogs live in the house. They have a large fenced yard, chain link and welded wire 5' & 6' tall.
They are mostly wherever I am. They all have a different spot to eat. Willow/ crate, Ivan /porch, Yette/garage, Xtra/living room. They all can get on furniture or beds but they seem to choose the floor to sleep, I think it might get to hot on the bed. I also am a mover LOL!

My dogs live in the house, sleep on the couches and the bed (or wherever they want) and eat in the kitchen (on the floor out of bowls). The females I import for breeding are "kennel" dogs and were raised that way - but they too get "house time" and rotate through, plus get lots of "outside the kennel" time and exercise. I have 3 house dogs and 3 "kennel/house" dogs, plus 2 chihuahuas (also house dogs though they spend time in crates or in the fenced yard when not supervised)
ps my house dogs are also my Schutzhund dogs - none of the dogs I work/train/compete with are "kennel only" dogs.

I have house and kennel dogs , but even the kennel dogs get "house time". I never let them on the bed, couch, or even in the kitchen when we are cooking. I love my animals very much, but they are animals. To let them on the bed or couch would only be for my pleasure. Animals don't automatically want to be on the couch or bed. I would say 99% of the dogs that do get the furniture were coaxed at a young age to get on it.
This is a gsd site, no? Why would you want that hair in your bed and couch?
When my kids were young and still crawling, I brushed the dogs at least once a week and my wife still had to vacuum the carpets almost every day. Yes, she is anal. I think she did it mostly to interrupt whatever sporting event was on T.V.
I say get two more! If you're gonna get one more, what's the difference?

3 non-working/pets live in a long run together on the side of my house. They free feed out of a feeder and auto waterer. Pine and Cedar chips keep the dust/mud down. 2 pups/working/in training, live in seperate kennels in the backyard. They eat in the am and pm in the garage, inside crates. All the dogs come in from time to time after baths or when sick/training requires it/or I am just feeling like having them close.
One is at the groomers right now, so she can come back inside. She is acting different and I want to keep a closer eye on her, plus keep her out of the heat. She is our old fragile Showline/spoiled mutt that is asked to do nothing.
I'm a clean freak, but I have let up some. You should see my truck...pitifull/gross/full of dog hair. I just can't go there with my house. I wasn't raised like that.
