oops!

I saw this product called "Milorganite" which is an organic lawn fertilizer. Made in Milwaukee, WI.

Say's it's safe for pets and children.

Anyone ever use it?  Does it work and is it really safe?

Honestly, since I lost my first GSD to leukemia, I no longer use any type of fertilizer in the backyard where Blitz plays.

noop, I wouldnt chance it....manufacturors will write anything on a label to make u buy it....just like the Vit k activity  menadione put in all the name brand dog foods, until dog owners want it out ,and a few have taken it out,  its a chemical , and nuto natural choice holistic dog food , which says all natural on the label, has Vit k activity, menadione,,,,a chemical not needed in dogs food.....so point proven   dont trust labels...   your bath tub is made of natural things, u wouldnt eat it.....the problem being , no one knows for years and many dogs or children have suffered from it, does any one finally find out that it was the carpet in our homes

It is basically manure. You still have to wet it down and then let it dry before allowing dogs, kids etc., on it. It is used in Florida to green up your lawn but does not have a lasting effect. It is a high nitrogen content and can burn the skin if not rinsed off. You are better off to put a good top dress of organic rich soil. I just don't like the bacterial idea that milorganite brings to the yard(where animals and kids are going to play).

i wouldn't use it. just leave the grass cuttings on your lawn periodically and the decomposing grass will naturally put back nutrients into your lawn and soil. i told our gardener a long time ago to quit using any kind of fertilizer because of the dogs. now if i can convince my husband!!! the fewer chemicals and additives the better.

I am with Blitzen - I use nothing on my back yard.  Front yard we use Natural Lawn Care of American - organic - but they(experts) do say that it does cause problems - nasal cancer- etc.  Stick with nothing and do the mulching.  I would much rather have a not so beautiful back yard - but really beautiful GSD.
